Thank you for all your inspiring words. I cannot wait for my day to come. I will only be 29 this coming year...so I want to have my TR done at the latest by the time I am 30... and then it is in gods hands.

Dear Ineedamiracle, As you can see it is fairly common for most physicians to be negative about TR and try and tell patients that IVF is the way to go. Just by the post here you can see that TR gives you a chance to conceive each and every month instead of one shot. The statistics for reversal surgery are much higher than those for IVF. Follow your heart and do what it best for you and your family. Let us know if you have other questions or if we can assist you with anythng. Rhonda

Ineed - Don't give up. I too had an RE tell me that IVF was the only way to go. 2 IVF cycles, 1 M/C, 1 D & C, and nearly $20 K later (and my insurance paid for the drugs), we found Dr. Berger. I was PG in my 1st cycle following surgery and am holding my beautiful 7 week old daughter as I type! My tubes were tied 9 years before my reversal and I am of "advanced maternal age". IVF does work for some but the odds are really not good and you have to be prepared for a lot of emotional ups and downs, not too mention probably draining your nest egg! If you decide to have TR you will be in the best of hands with Dr. B!

I had bipolar cautery done and had the reversal 1/3/06, it took 10 months, but we now have a beautiful almost 5 month old daughter, and I'm 40!! I too was told that IVF would be the only way to go because my TL was so long ago, but that doctor was wrong. Don't lose hope in the TR--it worked for me, it can work for you too. Here's the proof...
It can be difficult to decide between IVF and tubal reversal, especially when your physician is so negative about tubal reversal. I will tell you that Dr. Berger is the best tubal reversal surgeon out there and is able to repair tubes 98% of the tube. Tubal reversal gives you the opportunity to TTC naturally every month and you should have approximately an 82% pregnancy chance after surgery (based on your age group). I'm glad to hear you have already sent us your operative report - please feel free to contact me (SarahM@tubal-reversal.net) if you have any other questions or wish to discuss TR further!

I had a bipolar cautery x3....looking at the board it is obvious that Dr. B is successful in reversing this procedure....the weekly pregnancy lists gives me hope. I just needed some inspiring words....I know it is not 100% but it would be great to go to my ob one day and say look I am pregnant by TR...and I guess you were wrong...I just have to convince my DF that we have a great chance...me being only 28 and all

I love my OB to death but he gave me the same sort of advice. I don't think they mean to be negative, it's just so few doctors do tubal reversals or even know much about them. I appriciated his view but doctors are not always the authority on every field.
I spent a lot of time reading this board and the board of another doctor who did this procedure. So many of the ladies did in fact get pregnant after the surgury. Too many IMHO to be "lucky" or just "chance". I also ordered the DVD and watched that as well.
I followed my heart and went ahead with the TR in Sept 2006. I was 34, and CH had told me I was great candidate for the surgury having had Hulka Clips to do the orginial ligation.
I had some ups and downs in the year following. One chemical pg and one miscarriage, but I knew it worked. A year later - almost to the day - I got my BFP and I am now 15 weeks pregnant with my TR baby.
There are no assurances in this. I know several woman who the TR didn't work for. Some have moved on to IVF or have moved past trying other options. I can tell you many - and you can read the weekly pregnancy reports - women are able to get pregnant following the TR, and there are plenty that have several TR babies.
If your wanting to try for more children, the 5900 is much more reasonable that the cost of IVF and you can try for as long as you can the good old fashion way. Like Berta said - you can always look toward IUI/IVF if you need to later.

Ineed... ALOT of dr's will push IVF. I have been there trust me! I trusted the dr's and we did do IVF in 05 w/o success... (dr said TR was impossible). So this year..i had TR with DR B in july and got pg first time TTC. However, it was e/p I do know the TR worked! I only have 3 cm left on each side and I'm 38. So anything is possible.
Good luck with your decision. Follow your heart and gut....
Looking back...I should have exhausted TR FIRST, then if that was not successful, move on to IVF, as some ladies here on the board have done for whatever reason.
Paying 5900 for the chance to try every month is huge compared to maybe 15,000- 17,000 for IVF for ONE chance.

I am fairly new to the board and was aiming to have my TR done in the Spring of 08...but I decided to postpone that for a little while longer. Well yesterday I went to my ob and told him that I am contemplating having a TR done and he basically told me not even to bother wasting my money and go for IVF. I faxed my operative report CH told I have pretty good chances due to my age and so on. I have known my ob for years ...I don't know if I should lose hope in having a TR. Any encouraging words would be helpful.
