you sound like me.. complainng to drs about problems as they arise and they tell you one thing, has nothign to with the other.. no such thing or problems arise from a TL.. funny i wasnt this way after my first 3 kids only after the Birth of my 4th and the TL same day right afterwards.. 6wk check up i was complaining.. they said nothing has to do with your TL did a ultrasound and everything looked ok to them, just small cyst (never had any before).. and symptoms escalated from there.. I have all but 6 of the PTLS symptoms.. and Drs keep telling me Im depressed, it has nothing to do with my TL..

hey mama 12 I'm just wondering how soon after the birth of your child did you found out about the adhesion\'s? I just had a CT scan and it didn't show anything wrong so really the only other thing would be adhesion\'s and the test would cost me three thousand dollars with the ins. I have. Were you in excruciating pain or just uncomfortable with the adhesion\'s?What were your symptoms?

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum, and basically found out about it by looking for information on PTLS. After almost 7 years of constant pain, mood swings, and a weird discharge EVERYDAY, I am seriously thinking about a TR. I am not necessarily looking to have another baby, although I admit, it would be a nice miracle after all this, but I am really wanting to NOT be "crazy feeling" all the time.

Has anyone had a TR because of "PTLS" and it has helped or not helped? I am so confused as to what to do! My mom and aunts had TL done and had absolutely no problems. When I had it done, I've been nothing but a constant complainer since!

Dr. Berger is good, that's where you need to go is right here CH if you are going to do it. I wouldn't trust ANYONE else to do other than Chapel Hill I swear, even the local Dr's here, there was no way. He is the best and Dr. Montieth is good too he's learned from the very best!!!
I can't find any surgery pics that are anything but lap pictures on my end. Just the same though I wouldn't recommend anyone other than Dr. Berger honestly. I researched like crazy before I scheduled. Dr. B simply fit the criteria I was looking for. There's no way I'd trust any other Dr. to do it. I'm fine surgury went well, he knows his stuff. PLUS I feel a million times better.

You know you truly may have adhesions I had them really bad after my 2nd DD. They had to cut them all free it was horrible. She was 9 lbs.
I was just hunched over after her it was horrible constant pain with those adhesions. The key is after surgeries to not lay around, to get up move around so the tissues don't stick as much.

hi everyone, No 12mama I haven't had TR done just been getting all my facts together. I had TL done after my c-section 6 months ago and two months later I started to notice that I felt like my period was coming and it wasn't even due and that feeling has continued everyday for 4 months now.I feel bloated and cramps 24/7. So, I told DR. he said he didn't know why I would feel this way he said it absolutely wasn't tubal.I got 2nd and 3rd opinion and all said same I even went to gastro DR. because ny Gyno recommended that I had ultrasound ,didn't show anything now I just had CT scan of abdomen and pelvis but did't get results yet. Dr. also put me on BC pills which is crazy!that is why I got my tubes tied in the first place. Now Dr.'s say maybe it's adhesions.I don't believe it's anything but my tubes. So, I bought DR. Hufnagel's book and like I had said her pics of Female Reconstuctive Surgery are scary look at them on web.I just goggled her name and had come upon her surgery Pic which she does while awake .Very scary! So, that's where I'm at.Now I've been really checking out Dr. Berger and so far he sounds like the man! Great reviews, love his staff have spoken to them several times , so helpful! So, I'm just waiting to see results of CT scan and go from there.

WOW that is just scary...... I haven't read the book but I can POSITIVELY 100% ASSURE you girls Dr. Berger is the best. He's real, he knows what he's doing. It's not a scam scary nightmare.

You've found the right place.
TR may not fix all problems no but like with me the stuff started that 1st month after TL it was pretty obvious. Now it's even more obvious. After TR I'm good. Feel great, LOL I'm serious- before TR at this point in my cycle my uterus would be so swollen I could barely sit I'd be on the verge of tears from the pain. Now? 4 days from AF??? Fine, no pain. None at all. I've got regular PMS nothing major sore BB's cramping on occasion nothing debilitating.
Even the irritability, it's barely there.

If you can afford it, get TR done BUT HAVE Dr. Berger do it!!! Or Dr. Monteith he's been fully trained by Dr. Berger, he assisted in my surgery. They are indeed REAL Dr's!!!

KR52323hg did you have TR done?

That's just scary that lady.

I thought the book would help but like you said it confused and scared me.I did not know all those thing about her.I did see on her website that is had her speaking engagements as being in 2006, so I was wondering if she stopped talking about it.Everywhere I have looked women who have had the TR it has helped with PTLS.
I'm just so afraid to spend 5900 dollars and it not work. Sometimes I do want a another DC but I also like my family as it is. I do have a burning sensation in my mouth which I found out last night they find that in menapausal women, so I read it is a symptom of PTLS.
I want to schedule on Monday, I just feel anxiety take over when I think about the surgery.
I just am praying these symptoms do go away or get much better.Did you have the TR done?

lostinsterility- I found that out on tubal.org I believe.I also have allegies to things I did not have before my TL.I used to have hazelnut coffee a couple times a week.I started breaking out in hives on my face and my throat became itchy and had a hard time catching my breath, I had to take a steriod and a special cream for my face. I now have to check labels in nut products for hazelnuts to make sure I don't have a reaction again. I didn't think half of things could be linked to my TL, but it is amazing what hormones do in the body.

hey, guys just wanted to let 2girlsmama know that I too ordered the book and also became more confused. But what I found very interesting is that Dr. Hufnagel no longer has a license in three different states. It took me a while to find out everything about her but she has had several malpractice suits because of fraud and different things I also found pics on the web showing her so called reconstructive surgery that women must have to fix problems with PTLS and they are frightening if you goggle her you can find out all about her that is what I did.I also spoke to her on the phone well, barely she was extremely rude and very strange and would not really talk to me until I paid her 300 dollars first. She also has been fined for putting Dr. in front of her name and she is not a doctor or I should say not a real doctor. So whatever she has to say don't even listen because I also read that she also has psychological problems as well. If you can go on line and look at her pics on her reconstructive surgery you won't believe your eyes and you woiuld disregard everything you read!

It's like I said you don't have to TTC there are ways to avoid pregnancy, but I think BC pills are dangerous for any woman to take long term. There's safer ways to avoid pregnancy.

Right after my TL I had horrible periods, lasting 9 to 14 days and heavy clots.Sorry I know it's gross.I suffered with those for 9 months after 2nd DD in 2/06, thought it was due to having a baby. Finally I went to my OB who really didn't give me a reason why this was happening just that the easiest way to fix the periods was to go back on BC.I just wanted relief so I grabbed them and ran.I also remember that I believe I was on a emotional rollercoaster big highs and really bad lows and I didn't mention that to them because I know when ever you say emotion they immediately want you to go on anti-depressants.No No for me, I had a friend who is on them and she gained 80 lbs and is having a extremely hardtime losing the weight.I also was not losing weight and had these insane cravings to eat, which I did not have after my 1st DD.Everyone kept saying it was just from having 2nd DD and having 2 kids to take care of.After BC I have like 2 to 4 days of periods, my hair is thinning, my nails are cracking and finger tips are cracking. The emotions are still there but not as bad. I told my DH tonight I don't want to take the BC anymore after I have the TR.He just looked at me so surprised. He's not sure about the surgery, he thinks our family is complete. He was the one that started this journey the other Sat. when he said he wished we could of had more.Which led me straight to the internet to this site.I faxed over my op report tonight, to see if I can even have TR.I had bilateral with Parkland.
I think my DH didn't think I would want to be pregnant again.I just have this feeling I'm meant to have more.
We always wanted to have a boy.I know that may sound selfish, we love, love our girls, but his brother isn't having anymore, he has a girl also. His cousin had 2 DDs like us.His father pasted away 7 years ago we were 24 at the time.So he always wanted to carry on his name.He feels like it dies with him. So that my get out of jail free card, to possibly have the surgery.
I'm giving it to God and praying to have the surgery.I just don't want anyone to say I told you so if the TR didn't work and make me feel better. My MIL doesn't think we need anymore. I have only told my best friend, and she thinks I should do what I want it's my body, and she feels so bad because this happened to me. So I do have one supporter. And all you wonderful posters.mama12 you have been my little voice about avoiding the BC and needing to be off it. So I'll post when we decide. Thanks everyone

Yeah I know ridiculous isn't it??? we all got TL when we could've used our heads and educated ourselves....
I guess I'll say it for myself, it was a very dumb move. Not one of my smarter moments.

I realize now women have always had their ways to avoid pregnancy, not every woman has 25 kids..... there's a reason, not because of TL, it's that they know their own bodies.

With my period it's 28 days usually so CD 11 is my Ovulation day, we use condoms and that's that. We avoid sex CD9 - 13 and use condoms still. My EP was a broken condom result..... So I'm not playing it's stay away time for me!!!!
Down the road he is going to get a vasectomy and end the whole issue that way. It's not as harmful to a man as it is us.

I have to say the PMS snappiness isn't as bad, I'm pretty mellow already but I've noticed a kinder gentler PMS. I'm mellower for sure.

I do not like BC pills, it's just no good. Especially the older we get the more hormonal stuff we have going on. It's just artificial you know?? Even with menopause they are saying hormone replacement therapy needs to be minimal and cut off at a certain length of time to be safe. For me it's just not an option.
Yeah I know what you are saying about TL being a bad thing, a screw up, a bad choice that's so very obvious when I think of the thousands in insurance $ I spent getting diagnosis ~nothing~ or suspected adenomyosis, which after TR it's shown itself to NOT be adenomyosis, the pain is completely gone!!!
I thought too I was making a good choice, which YES I didn't get preg, but it's been hell you know??
Now I've got TR have to be careful and we are trying one more time but after that it's back to BC - but condom BC and timing. I should've never messed with my tubes that's all I know.
Since you've been on it for a while I don't know how you go about getting off of it, you know it may take you about 6 months or so to get normal after TR and feel normal. You're body has been reliant on pills to be regulated, so it will take a little bit I'm sure for the effects to wear off. That's ok though, you are better off not taking them and saving it for menopause when you need them. You know what I mean??? They aren't safe. Use condoms, time it, you'll be fine, no BFP then.
TR offered me a shorter lighter period, pill free. I think if you can do it, do it. You're long term health will be better most likely.
You should ask your Dr. about long term effects of the pill. Honestly I don't know anyone who's lasted more than 3 years on them for one reason or another. Usually there's a bad thing going on to make them quit taking them. I've watched my girlfriends nightmares with BC pills that really made my mind up so I've never taken them.

Do you get regular periods, or I should say did you before you started taking BC pills?? How long are your cycles BC pill free?
If you are regular, you can time your O date and BD AROUND IT, avoid it, the egg is only good for 24-48 hours and it's done.

Hello again
Thank you all, I find great comfort here on these boards.

mama12-you are right, after reading back posts, you got me thinking I really need to get off the BC.I read in that same book, that women who have hormone issues should not be on BC for it will cause her to have a stroke, they should be on HRT.Not sure what the difference is.
I really honestly believe the TR is the answer, I just feel betrayed by my OB who I absolutely loved I told him I didn't want to take BC so I choose the TL.I feel like kicking myself in the head. Now I have to find another doctor, so I guess if I do get pregnant they can order the test right?
Have you all felt like this, where you feel so down because of choice you made to make your life better, only to complicate it.With the BC I don't see as many of the symptoms I had like the heavy periods.I seem to have a memory lapse on alot before getting back on BC.
Hair thinning, nail breakage and finger skin cracking, also the mood swings are not as bad, but they are still there especially on the non pill week of my period.
One of the big reasons for me to do this is so I can be the mother I want to be for my children.Do you all feel as if you are better moods with your children? Have they noticed a difference? Also if, I should say when I have the TR how do you track your periods so you do not need BC pills.
Thanks for everyone's reply.
