Hi! I am very excited for you.... let me know how things work out.
The jumbotron is a great idea... I wonder how much something like that costs and how many ob-gyn doctors would be annoyed to put it politely.
That was funny.....
I've been reading some more on other sites if you are interested including womentowomen.com and about.com....
They discuss hormonal imbalances relating to thyroid symptoms and tubals....
I am sure you are past that though... since you are making a go of the reversal...
I have a gut feeling that I will be following your footsteps soon...except I don't have to travel as far as you do.. I am near Asheville in North Carolina.

TBF - I am in West Milford, NJ. I am about 45 minutes North of NYC. I have my surgery on Monday next week and cannot wait to get this done. I am sort of scared that nothing will change and that I will be back to square one, but I am very hopeful that this will "cure" me since I have found nothing else to explain my myriad of diverse symptoms. I cannot beliee that more people are not aware of this...I tell everyone I know to be careful before they get a TL and explain that it can be total hell! I did not sign up for early menopause!!! I feel taking out an ad on the jumbotron in times Square to tell all women out there to stop before they do it!
My mistake she is not an MD but has specialized practice/study in hormonal imbalances.
She offers a specific test that is performed over a month in order to get a complete look at the hormone variations in the body.
My was estrogen dominant.....
I just called Doctor Berger's office to have a nurse or someone to discuss this issue with me... I plan on bringing the results with me and the symptomatic information that my alter. doctor gave me relating to this issue.
Recently, I had my annual gyn check up and tried discussing this PTLS and was immediately shot down. He said I was pre-dispositioned for my current bleeding issues. I thought well, that's funny because after my 6 week release you told me to watch for heavy bleeding. He also noticed where i came in for low iron issues during my period. Normal range is a 12 and I was a 9. You start transfusions at a 7.
He tested my iron again. It was a 12 and took away my iron prescription. My issue for low blood is just before and definitely during my period.
I also ran a TSH (thyroid test) due to my symptoms and it came back within range. There is another more specific test out there to rule this out and I will be looking for this on line. I will bring this with me also.
I will be seeing my alter. doctor on Thursday and will be discussing this option with her... I hope to hear back from Berger's office by then.
Anyway, I am starting to rule out any other issues ...even though my alter. doctor and I believe that the tubal is the main issue linked to all other imbalances.
I will ask her if she has contacts for professionals in your area that consult with Dr. Janet Lang.

Do you have a link to the site. I'd like to read more...I can't find anyone in NJ who knows anything or can help me. I have accepted that fact that I will have the surgery and probably never get reimbursed for it, but I cannot put a price on my health, marriage, family and overall quality of life. Just 5 short years agao I had a new baby, active lifestyle (walking every day after work), and was a size 5 for the first time since college! Then with baby #3 came C-S #3 and the TL. Since then (2005), I have gotten progressively worse with like 11 of the 22 most commonly reported PTLS symptoms..Life has been hell and I am hoping this surgery will jump start me back to life and the ability to exercise again, rid my of all my symptoms, restore my balance, enjoy my family and fit into my skinny jeans! i hope the same for all of you out there rowing against the tide right now...At least it appears that there is light at the end of the tunnel..Run, don't walk to it!

Thanks Momzilla. I am seriously considering this surgery. I have been taking alternative medicine but after turning on my alt. doctor to this site...she seems to think that this is the best option. She is also working with doctor Janet Lang who specializes in hormonal imbalances... she consulted with this doctor (MD) who stated that this was a real problem and surgery may be necessary. My alter. doctor is now looking into current patience with the TL and checking on them. I haven't been consistent with the pills she is giving me and I think I need to go through with the surgery. Anyway, It takes me a few days to respond to these postings. My three littel ones keep me running. I usually check them at night.
Currently, I am about to start my period and noticed the physical and mental imbalance. It is difficult and scary sometimes.. I am constantly talking to myself to remind myself that it isn't me...it's the female issues. Just don't remember it being this bad before TL. I flood everything and stop excerise during this time. Just want to sleep and appetite comes and goes. Feeling sick right now and ache all over...cramps, joints etc. Anyway, I am tracking as much as possible.
I see Dr. Berger has posted the site for PTLS... My alt. doctor has done a hormone panel which lists me as estrogen dominant... this comes with the same symptoms as PTLS. The fact that the Tubes were tied made these symptoms and imbalance more likely/possible. Estrogen dominance is also linked to cancers... soooo if anyone out there has this imbalance in high long term levels... this is another push in the right direction....

I just read the blog, had I known I would've gladly guinea pigged myself for a few months to help the cause.... I'm drug free, hormone free, alcohol free, have not changed anything. The change in the bleeding alone is such undeniable proof that TR works it's amazing. I'm CD 8 and my period is over, it's been over LOL before TR I would STILL be bleeding, in bed beyond tired from the bleeding. Dr. Berger I hope you can get this on the charts someday it needs to stop. PTLS is a real thing. I wish you the best. Thank you for doing what you do everyday.

Girls I had my surgery in Oct and I can tell you it works!! I did have a EP and that made some of the old symptoms come back but I repeat SOME, not all all. Not anywhere near as severe as I had it. It's only when I O on the non tube side too. I noticed within the 1st month the change. PTLS was pure hell for me, extreme bloating, cramping all month, ovary pain, nausea, extreme tiredness, ovulation spotting, 9-14 day periods with very heavy clotted bleeding. Now? No clots, a nice 5-6 day light period., bloating is minimal, pain or O spotting??? LOL only when I O on the non tube side and it's far less than I had. Tiredness is gone, nausea is gone....
We are trying for a baby, if it doesn't happen it's ok. I feel great!!! My options were the the pill, which I refuse to do, never have never will or hysterectomy. I'm very very happy it worked! Dr. Berger is doing a very good thing I'm very grateful for him. He's made my life better. I don't know why it works, or how, but I can say for sure without a doubt.... If they had tracked me from TL to now. Had me in a lab counted pads, or some how measured the quantity of bleeding or days bleeding there is an undeniable 100% in your face improvement!! The proof is there every month. A nice normal period. I know I sound like a commercial but girls I'm telling you it worked for me. It's the honest to God truth. It was the best decision I've ever made.

Yes, I feel the same. I cannot believe more doctors do not know and advise patients about the potential side effects. PTLS can literally ruin your life. I hope to be rid of it and re-claim my life in 4 weeks.

Wow the more I read this site the more angry I get....I had my TL 3/97 right after my son was born...within weeks I felt something was wrong all I did was cry and I was so depressed. I went to my doctor and he told me I was post pardom but I did not have any symptoms with my first 4 why this one he said it happens...after 6 mths I went back and he said I lacked vit. C months of pain, heavy periods, cramps, some months I would have 2 periods no one could help...well it's been 11 yrs and I have been through gallblader surgey, Hospitalized for heart palputations, and my periods and headaches have gotten worse. I am glad to have found others like me so I don't think I am crazy anymore... Would love to have it reversed if it would help.... Thanks all Tammy

Well TBF, you have to make the decision that is best for you, your health and your family, but please do not let anyone tell you this stuff does not exist. I will admit I am older but I should not be menopausal at 43!. I got pregnant and had a healthy baby at 40 with no issues....and I have always ovulated consistently and had regular periods to the day until after my TL...then it all went south...You see from all the postings the wide array of consistent symptoms that cannot be chalked up to anything else...Do your research, track your symptoms, rule out other causes the best you can and then decide what YOU need for YOU. Good Luck..

New comer on board. I have had many of the same issues. I am trying to decipher if it is issues due to getting older, hereditary, or Tubal. I have had heavier periods, major clotting, blotting, weight gain about 6 months after the surgery and ending in gall bladder surgery. I have been told that the hormonal imbalance from a TL causes Gallbladder problems. Therefore, I have a double whammy with the weight gain issues. I too have mood swings, sex issues, swollen joints, muscle tingling, fatigue and issues related to fibroidmyalgia. I have been reading this message board for a while trying to decided what I should do? Still undecided and in need of change... for the family and myself. Tonya

Ourblessings, while we are not trying to have another baby (3 is plenty for us..and after reading many of the women's stories here, I know I am blessed to have 3 healthy kids) I do want to claim my life back and become a healthier better mother and wife! It can't happen fast enough. I only wish I had found out this informtion years ago rather than suffering through all of this nightmarish stuff. I was scheduled for the same week as you but had to change to 6/1 so we can drive on a Sunday (9 hours from NJ to NC) and I can minimize lost work time. I wish you lots of luck!

Michelle, no you are absolutely NOT crazy! I did not mean to make you cry, but I get it...the utter relief to hear someone else share your story! I really thought I would lose my husband because I was just "mental" and looked for excuses to avoid being in situations that MIGHT lead to sex! Then all the more physical symptoms started popping up slowly and I started searching the internet for any answers I could find. This forum is a gift! I was hoping to find others to talk to so we could all help each other. 6/1 can't come quickly enough for me. I have 3 beautiful kids and have been in such horrible shape both physically and emotionally that I feel I lost so much quality time enjoying them when I was "too tired" "too cranky", just "out of it" , edgy, etc...they are only kids once and I want to enjoy them and our whole family as much as I can! I hope that you get better and start living again too!
