Hasty -- As said, I suppose it's a matter of opinion and certainly each woman is different but I'll tell you that when I talked with my OB about TR vs IVF he pointed me straight to IVF saying I'd have a higher success rate. After 2 unsuccessful IVF cycles we decided to go the TR route...I had my TR in January 08 and naturally conceived in June of this year...so, after spending almost a year on IVF plus a LOT of money and so many drugs, TR worked for me. AND the idea that we can let nature take its course is just such a freeing experience. Anyway--it is a personal choice but I thought I'd share my own personal experience

Dear Hasty: There are so many reasons why women make the decision that they regret their tubal ligation. In your own case, as well as others, it is not just about pregnancy but also is about feeling whole again.
Unfortunately, the lady at the fertility clinic did not provide the most accurate information for either circumstance! Across all ages of women, our results with tubal reversal surgery led to higher numbers of pregnancies and live births than standard IVF procedures. Besides having higher success rates, the tubal reversal procedure is less than half the cost of an IVF cycle.
The success of reversal surgery over IVF is not based solely on our own statistics. All IVF clinics submit their stats to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. In their last report, pregnancy rates for IVF were only around 27% per attempt and the cost was in excess of $10,000. Compare this to reversal surgery at CHTRC where pregnancy rates average 70% and the cost is $5400 - $5900.
As several women mentioned here, however, one of the main reasons women choose reversal surgery over IVF is that the reversal restores fertility rather than working around the tied tubes and the reversal gives women the chance to become pregnant again naturally without medications or repeated surgical procedures.

Ladies thank you so much for being here for me and responding so quickly, because I really needed to talk to someone who understood where I am coming from. Congrat Andrea on your tr. One day I will back on the other side. Hasty

Aw, hasty! I'm so sorry this happened to you!
Listen here, I am totally on your side, girl. Even if God never blesses my husband and I with another (we have four), I feel I have done all that I can do to restore my body back to God's perfect design for women and marriage!
I believe that I sinned, by listening to the world's description of "too big of a family" and ending my fertility. Now, with God's mercy, I've been made whole again....not to mention that for the 3 years I was "butchered", the reminder of my sin hit me at several points each month as I suffered terrible PTLS.
I am 3 weeks post TR, and this has been the longest stretch of no migraines for me since TL! I haven't had breakthrough bleeding, and I feel like a woman today.
IVF is a personal choice for couples who desire more children..however, it does NOT restore the body of a woman who grieves over the loss of her wholeness. (I don't expect all ladies to have this same point of view, just sharing mine here)
I commend you for standing up to her, and be prepared for more at times. I *plan* on having as many children as God sees fit, and no longer do ignorant, and world-influenced comments bother me!

well unfortunately, this subject is just matter of opinion. She should have just accepted your answer, and not tried to argue her point. Some people just dont know the difference between fact and matter of opinion!!

Hello ladies I net a lady today a we were talking about me getting a tr and she said she works at a fertility clinic and she was trying to explain to me why IVF was better than getting a tr. We kinda got into an argument, because she doesn't know how incomplete I feel and even if I did IVF over tr I still wouldn't be whole. Can someone please explain to me the difference. Maybe she was just trying to inform me and I took it the wrong way.I would really appreciate it. Thnk you! Hasty
