It is extremely hard to not gain weight when your quitting smoking. My doctor told me the average person will put on close to 35 Pounds when they quit smoking!! Can You Believe That?!? ...
That Makes ya Not even want to quit when ya here that...and I think that is why alot of people do not want to quit because they are scared of the possible weight gain,
I quit Smoking Almost 3 years ago (April 10th)and the time has flown by , I quit smoking even before my husband and I started Talking about trying to have a baby of our own, and yes it did make me put on allot of weight, Because, it seems for some reason you have to replace the habit with a different habit to get your mind off of the habit your trying to break! LOL.. and most replace that habit with food.. Why that is I have no Idea...
All I Can Say Is Stay Strong and it will pass, Just Never Give Up and Always Stay Active.. Walk as much as possible.

hello ladies, i had my tr in jan 08 and had to lose about 45-50 lbs to meet the bmi. i went to my regular doctor and got some stuff to help me along the way, along with 6 small meals a day, low fat, no salt, tons of water, and hitting the gym or exercising almost everyday. we had a lot of weight loss challenges going on at work during that time, so i joined every one of them, for the support. but during that time, there was not cheating because i had a goal. once i hit the goal, i may have cheated a little, but watched it until surgery. i can not remember the pills the doctor game me to help lose the weight, but they did give me really bad mood swings and i had to follow up with her every couple of weeks to monitor my vitals and so forth.

And Also Thank You Dr. Hertz For your kind words also!
There was at one time I did not every think I would be able to Lose the weight that I have, But I made the Choice Of wanting to be here and live a long healthy life with my Children and family and wanting to possibly have an addition to the family with Dr Bergers Help It only pushed me even harder to get to where I am now, Like I said I still want to lose about another 30 pounds But at least I am Below the 35 BMI now for the Surgery , Like i told My family and friends even after the Surgery I am still going to continue my Exercise and keep loosing and also while pregnant ,OF coarse i know i wont want to loose the weight once pregnant but instead maintain my weight with of coarse a few additional pounds from the baby!
Boy I am getting excited and I haven't even scheduled yet! LoL ... I Can't Wait Till Tax Time!!!
And Sure You Can Use Determination and Moderation!!!! ... Everybody Can!..
And To Answer Your Question, It has taken me 17 Months To lose the 63 Pounds and to Break it all down (Which I wont do cause thats a long process ..Haha) It Averages out to be About a Pound a week lost so Figure a 4 Pounds a Month loss.
I Do Not Deny myself of anything, Because when you start to deny yourself of something and say oh i can have this or I can't have that it only makes you want it more! and More of it!.. So I Let myself have a small amount of what ever it is that I am wanting at that time and it satisfies me, but at the same time i account for the calories and carb count in what ever It is i am eating so I do not go over my Calorie or Carb Count for the day. For my My Calories Range is Between 1,500-1,900 a day
If you would like to have help figuring this out you can do a google search on Spark People (Search for me - Darkfeary474 - and add me as a friend if ya like) , It helps you log your foods and keep track of you calories , I know it sounds hard but really it isn't Its Actually super easy and has been one of the things that has helped me also,
Along with all of that I Go to Curves 3 Times a Week and I Walk Anywheres from 1.5 to 3 miles outside a day in the winter, and when the weather is warmer I can sometimes walk up to 6 miles a day... I think the Secret To all This is To Keep Moving,
Even If you can Burn 500 Calories a day thats 3,500 calories in a 7 day Time frame - Which 3,500 Calories Equals exactly 1 Pound of Fat Burnt!!!
Welp I need to Hush for now LoL , Because if i don't this will end up being a book! LOL
Remember Ladies- Determination and Moderation!!!!
Boy that kinda sounds like an InfoMercial don't it?! Hahahahaha Have a Good one Ladies!

Weight loss has always been a struggle, but the outcome is HUGE if I can get there! Thank you for sharing your story!
I have been on this message board now for a little over a year and have been working on my self and weight also and when i was starting my BMI was a 43!!!! and Now it is 34.1!!!! I am 5'9" so i am a bit taller than average which kind of helps a bit but I am able to now have the TR completed as soon as Tax time come early in 09... I haven't called to schedule yet though )... I don't like to do things to early because most of the time things don't work out the way they are planned so once i am sure of the amount we are getting back income tax wise i will be calling to schedule... Of coarse i still want to loose about another 30 pounds but i have come a long far way on my journey and what matters is that i have met my first goal (A 63 Pound Loss!!!) . which was to lose enough to be able to get my TR done!
I am also a type 2 Diabetic And Yesterday my doctor told me that she is weaning me off of my medication!!! she said my A1C Levels are at Non-Diabetic Levels!!! YAHOOOOO!!
It can be done Ladies Just Keep up the hard work
My Two words I Live by are ... Determination and Moderation!!

I'm working hard. My husband has been a HUGE support and working out with me. It's fun. I was surprised I haven't had much response from the original message of others working on the same goal. I really appreciate your message! Support goes a long ways!
