I had my TR May 2006. I had an HSG last week. One tube was open; Dr. Berger could only repair the one tube. The HSG was uncomfortable but didn't hurt that bad after I relaxed. We have an appointment with a fertility specialist next week. Hopefully 2009 will be our year to invite our new bundle of joy into the world.

I am trying to decide if I should do an HSG. If I had a BFP that was confirmed with bloodwork (HCG of 54) then m/c, doesn't that indicate that at least one of my tubes is clear? I really don't want to spend the money if I don't need to. This is my last month of TTC, then what will be will be, but I would like to know if PG is possible.

Thanks Miranda, I will see if I can get my OBGYN to do that for me! I hope it works. Gosh all of this stuff is so expensive. It would be nice to get a break somewhere!

Kenna a friend of mine on here e-mailed me today with info about that. She said to have your doctor file it under side pain so that it is a needed test so your insurance will cover it. Hope this helps you. Miranda

I had mine at about 6 months post TR - I did not want to waste time TTC only to find out my tubes were blocked. Also, my insurance covered it so I saw no reason to wait. Both my tubes were open. We got our first BFP 3 months later.
As for the HSG itself, there was some mild cramping both during and after but a couple of Tylenol took care of that. Good luck.

I had my HSG at 6 months- I didn't have any pain at all but I did bleed afterwards and I wasn't prepared for that, I was wearing white pants that day! Both tubes were open and I recieved my BFP 4 months later and now my first Tr baby is almost 4 months old- Good Luck and I agree, print off Dr. Bergers suggestions and take them with you!!!!
Wide open tubes girl and lots of baby dust your way!!!!!
and there are LOTS of girls that get that BFP the month they have the HSG done

kenna, I had one about 4 months after my TR at the suggestion of my GYN due to age. Left open, Right side blocked. It didn't hurt too bad, more like crampy. It seems to hurt more thou for others when there is any kind of blockage, such as Gigohead. Because the had to basically push thru a blockage, there is more pain associated with that.

I waited 3 months to have it done. I'm glad I did early. The left tube gave the radiologist a bit of trouble to blow it through but they were able to blow it open with dye. The right tube is good and open..no problems there.
I have to admit. It hurts like crazy! please make sure you read Dr. Berger's suggestions on this site to prepare for your HSG. I also recommend you get some good pain meds in your system at least an hour to the procedure. That way you don't hurt so much.
