I think Dr Berger quotes less than 5% of TR's ending up with blocked tubes. In that case, that number is relatively low. Recently, a couple of topics here were revolving around how this message board can sometimes seem sort of discouraging to women here...I think the conclusion was because women come here for support when things are tough, less than for continued discussions when things are good...so that may account for why it seems like a lot of tubes getting blocked.
I believe it occurs for a number of reasons that can't be predicted, you know?
My TR was a success, and I know many are. I do believe in the rare case of blockage, it occurs fairly soon after the first TR, and I believe they offer a discounted rate for a second TR.

Do you know what causes blocked tubes? I have noticed that a lot of women who have TR surgery end up with blocked tubes. So you had to pay for the TR surgery twice???

Hi, I live in Fresno, CA. We have flown several times to Raliegh/Durham from CA. We have been for TR and have family. I would really recommend checking out Southwest...From San Jose they have many flights that at $99 each way. You have to check there website often to get the deals, but they are great. You also don't have to pay extra for luggage, which is another savings.

I live in Salinas,Ca (Monterey,CA)I was born and raised here and have never traveled to the east coast so it will be nice to see North Carolina.
I am so excited for you on your pregnancy. My sister-in-law just went into the hospital today and getting induced so she will probably have her baby sometime this evening, I am so envious of her, I have the baby blues so badly right now.
My kids are 11, 6, 5 and 3. My mom came and stayed, and that was fine. She is the only one we are comfortable with. We have girls from church who babysit for us, but definitely nothing overnight!
My mom was fine with staying longer, as she was very supportive of the reversal. It was just a bit difficult for everyone!
Yes, I am pregnant now. I'm nearly 20 weeks.
What part of CA you ladies from? I was born in Covina, CA, and then grew up in Placerville-just west of Tahoe.

My 15yr old daughter keeps bugging me to bring her, she said she wants to be able to say she's been in North Carolina...LOL

I went a week ahead of time and rented a car. We drove to my friends house in Virginia. We went to high school together in Oregon so hadnt seen eachother in a long time! I was actually out on a boat in Columbia NC the day after surgery. It all depends on what you want to make the trip hehe
HISWILL......You are a saint!!! I would have probably been divorced by the end of that!!! (just kidding) but good job staying calm!

I don't blame you for wanting to get back as soon as possible. My children are 15,10 & 8 so they will stay with there dad while we are gone. I am so excited I really cant wait to have TR. How old are your children? Are you currently expecting also?

If at all possible, it may be nice to stay another day! We have four children (three of them are fairly young) so we tried to get home as quickly as possible. In hindsight, we'd rather have spent the next day at the Sheraton instead of in the airport, LOL! I was feeling good enough to do a small amount of shopping before we went to the airport on the first day, but after sitting/standing all day in that place...sheesh!
My husband felt HORRIBLE...he's a protector for me, so it was hard for him to know I was standing around on CD3 of my period a day after surgery all swollen. I'm not a complainer, so he could just tell it wasn't the best situation, LOL!
It really wasn't that bad..we had a very great outlook on why we were there, and the great promise it brought!

seems like you had quite the experience..LOL
Thats true never looked at it in that aspect. I was planning of getting to North Carolina a day before surgery and than maybe stay an extra day after the surgery that way I feel a little rested and maybe I wont be so sore.

I, myself, appreciated the layover as a way to get out and walk around.
However, whenever you are flying, whether direct or layover, you are at the mercy of the airline/weather, etc.
I had a TR on 7/30 and the next day we were set to leave at 2 pm...the flight was delayed and then eventually cancelled in the evening. We had already turned in our rental car. We had to get a free hotel shuttle and stay at another hotel. We were out of clean clothes by this time, and I was in pain and exhausted from being in an airport over 8 hours and then in a shuttle one day after surgery. We did laundry at the hotel and got to sleep around 2 am.
We were advised to arrive at the airport at 6:30 am to get on standby for an earlier flight but we were booked on a 4 pm. The first flights were full and we were there until our flight at 4pm, LOL!
It was a bit of a disaster, but our flight back to Spokane, WA (about the same length to CA) was easy..you can just never count on travel to be pinpoint. It was all worth it though! I'd do it again!
