That would be great Rebecca.

I know that many women have no reason to have their hormones tested prior. So being told hormone levels are in the 'range' to me, seems pointless. What is MY range? But the doctors just say, that isn't an issue, it is all the range and that is why they have ranges.
I just really want some relief so I hope to make it happen soon.

I understand what you're going thru! I went to too many doctors to count, have a stack of prescriptions that they gave to just shove me off, and was told hysterectomy was around the corner (I'm only 30!) My thought is if you feel you have researched and have the symptoms of PTLS, don't hesitate to have the TR. If you know your body and what you're feeling (and its getting worse), you are a better judge of what you need than some doctor who is only trained to treat symptoms and are unwilling to look outside their limited box. My husband and I researched, prayed and waited way too long, and now that I'm starting to feel better, I regret not just going for the surgery. You have absolutely nothing to lose (except $$) and you can feel better. I had my TR 12/4/08 and within a few weeks started noticing changes. I still have symptoms, but from what I've read from the other ladies, it can all go away within 6 months. I did have my hormone levels tested a few months ago, and will have them checked again in a few months, so if you want, I can let you know what comes of that.
take care

From personal experience I can tell you PTLS is real!! Many other women here will tell you the same thing. Some of us have had doctor's "agree" in theory that there could be a syndrome, but most won't. My doctor also said it was in my head, but suggested he could perform a hysterectomy if my symptoms didn't go away. That was not an option!! Like so many other women here, you actually end up diagnosing yourself when all other medical tests have come back normal - but you know you are not normal - something has to be wrong. Some women have had hormone testing before TR and they were told everything is fine. If you want to know if a TR will cure your PTLS - Yes It Will! I suffered for over 2 years and it continually got worse every month. I had my TR in September 08 and I am completely symptom free. I have a normal cycle every month now and all the emotional problems - irritability and rage - they are gone too. It was almost instant, I got AF 4 days after my surgery and it was only 5 days long instead of 9 (including the days I would spot). I felt like me again - and I even started looking younger again - I'm 33 but looked like an old women and felt like one too! My energy restored as well as my patience - which my kids are happy to see!

You are lucky to have a Dr. who will support you, but as far as getting it "medically" documented as a real syndrome - you are definitely fighting an up-hill battle - one most of us have already tried to fight and failed. Everyone here took the leap of faith that this would make them whole again, and I have yet to see anyone say that it didn't work.

I hope you get the answers you are looking for in the medical community - but if they don't confirm what you already know - don't feel discouraged, we are all here in the same boat. For those of us that had our TR's for PTLS (and for another baby too), the TR was worth every penny spent.

Good Luck on your journey!

I was here before a couple of years ago. I have been contemplating a TR since then, but I keep putting it out of my head because of the money factor.
Almost 6 years ago, I had my TL after my third CS. Approx. 3 months later I started wtih skin issues. Insane itching to the point it would wake me up. I attributed it to soap or razors and switched numerous times and nothing worked. A dermatologist called it eczema but 3 different treatments have failed and no soap or laundry detergent helps.
Then comes the sleeplessness, the anxiety, the memory issues, the fatigue, the libido issues, the irritability... the list is just exhausting to list.
I have went to my Dr. about it and at first she told me that there was no such thing. I was dejected and it took me until this year to go back to her. She told me to go to my OB and if she would support it, they would fight my insurance company together. She has even done hormone tests and blood tests, auto immune tests.. whatever she can to find some other reason for my issues... Well... my OB basically told me that it was in my head, probably because I want another child. I was so appalled that I left and sat in my car crying. I went to another OB in Oh, who finally said that yes, there is this syndrome, BUT since he cannot prove that a TR will change my health issues, he can't fight my ins.
So I am back to square one with my Dr, who is still willing to fight for me, but it seems like we will be fighting an uphill battle and will have to pay out of pocket anyway. Somehow.

So my question is this... has anyone here actually had their hormone levels tested before and after? Is there any effect there?
And how soon after the TR have you all realized a change back to the norm?
