Pine, I know the feeling. I haven't been trying as long, as you might remember, but when we started trying, I thought it would be easy. A year and 2 m/c later, I'm super jealous!! Jackie

I want to thank all of you ladies for your post and a special thank you to the girls I got emails from.Knowing this is a tr board I wont post about IVF on here again but this was a great help to me for finding places where I can get support for whats next for me.

Thanks, Kelli! today is 13 days past trigger, and 6 days past 5 day transfer, so I am feeling pretty good about it! Plus, I had already done the "is it out of my system POAS test prior. More concerned about it ending up not sticking, than it being residuals of trigger. That would definitely be gone by now! OK, not going to post anymore about it on here, so as this tread doesn't "turn" into a different kind of thread. I'd hate to have them have to delete one of the blogs. This is definitely a hot topic!
And I fixed my previous remark...yes, I meant PTLS. that's what I get for just typing and not thinking

I just wanted to add I read the blog and totally agree with the Dr. It was very stressful, the meds and money and what ifs. The problem with the blog is with the woman that have no other choice...it scares them! Again, this is a forum for TR's so people understand there are forums for support for ivf. Just like the stress and pros and cons of ivf.....there are the same in a TR. Its an emotional roller coaster. Every month..poas...af...being late ughhh. I only had to mess with that one month with ivf. I realize I am fortunate but my whole point is there are women out there that need support. There is support out there...just like this board for tr's. Trust me I wish you all luck and many blessings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please dont get ahead of yourself. I did IVF also and tested earlyer than the 14 days and also got a very faint pos. If you want to test that is ok but know that it still could be leftover hormones from the shot you gave yourself 36 hours before retrieval. I have gone through 3 IVF cycles and 1 resulted in a bfp. The other 2 didnt. I did get a faint BFP but then it disapeared and I was never pregnant. I hope that this isnt your case I just got my hopes up a lot and then it was a huge let down when the first b/w came back with numbers less than 2. Good luck to everyone else.
Also yes I did end up with a BFP after TR and also one out of 3 IVF cycles. Good luck to everyone

I had TR way back in 04...got pg twice 12/06 metho shot, 6/07 mc'ed. IVF 10/07 transferring 2 grade A embies and my son was born 6/08. I realize this is a board for TR and so I am usually quiet about my story but when I see these threads I wonder where they are headed. As a 30 yr old woman I CHOSE to have a TR. I knew my tubes were pretty much destroyed but I had the money and wanted to try. I ended up with very short tubes and knew that my chances were very slim to ever conceive and if I did conceive I also knew that my chance of mc were high because of the short tubes not allowing the necessary time needed to "become" a baby. After losing 2 pg's I moved on. AGAIN it was MY choice. We all can do what is best for us and in some cases tr worked in others it didn't. My problem is when these threads come up if all opinions and comments are not praising ch or tr's then they are deleted or people are banned. Its not fair. I do stay quiet with my story out of respect for this board and ch but then I see a thread like this and I don't think its fair. I personally know 9 ppl that have done IVF..all but one has had a baby..most multiples. IVF works...TR works. But both aren't for everyone. I respect and am happy for those who have gotten pg with their TR....but I also respect those that have moved on. There are people out there that will help you and listen to you if you have questions about ivf. here is my email KelliKeli1 at aol dot com. This is not the place to get support about it because there is a good chance you will get your feelings hurt but there are forums for that. I can regret things if I want but ultimately it waws all MY choice so I cant put blame on anyone. Lets support everyone not just the good statistics....the ones that aren't in those good statistics need support too...probably more. Good luck to you all....Kelli

PCOS = poly cystic ovarian syndrome, did you mean that you had PTLS or post tubal ligation syndrome?? Just wondering bc my sister has PCOS and I believe that it is totally different from PTLS...

A lot of places will tell you that TR is not an option, or that they don't work, or that IVF is the only way peasible for you to go. In reality, TR is almost always an option, and ends in BFP for a lot of people. For me, one of my tubes did block, but we did get a BFP with the one open tube. Who knows, we could have very well have gotten pregnant again without the IVF, but we chose to try this route. I do not regret my TR either, because just like Anita, I didn't even know about PTLS, but now know that I definitely had it after my TL. Post TR, I am now back to where I don't even know when AF is coming except for the date on the calendar. That's why it's my DH who is getting "fixed" next time!
Another note, here Pine, is that I tested today 12 days post Egg Retrieval, and got very, very faint, but definitely there....don't need to squint to see it or anything!...BFP! So it does work! We just need to pray now, as with all pregnancies, that it ends up being strong, healthy, viable, and full term.

I consulted an OB/GYN about Tr, and was told IVF was the only way to go. When researching IVF clinics, I came across CHTRC, and did a little more research there, and decided to have the TR.
MY TR was successful in that my tubes were open, plus the PTLS, that I didn't even know about, stopped, so I do not regret TR at all.
However, we were not able to get a BFP after two years, and decided because of my age to do IVF. We had only three good embryos to transfer (implanting is not the same)and thank God, one of those little guys implanted. Our adorable little man was born in October.
Then on Valentine's Day, I got the biggest surprise of my life, and ended up with a BFP. Unfortunately, it was not viable, and I M/Ced. I am ecstatic to know that I can get a BFP on my own, and I am thankful that we had the opportunity to go down this whole difficult path.

Pine, Dawn said it very well as did the other ladies. i did ivf and tr and i have mc with both. this is a tr message board but most of us ladies just talk about our own personal experience. not that we are trying to sway someone one way or the other. in my own opinion i wish that i would have tried tr first and then moved on to ivf as my last resort. no i wouldn't put a price tag on it either but if i could get pregnant for less then i would have more money to buy baby stuff lol. anyway don't be discouraged if tr isn't working then by all means go for ivf nothing should stop you. Pine, I am one of the ladies talked about here from the Jan '08 room. My TR was 12/31/07. and an HSG in May of "08 showed that Rt side had blocked up. In that time only 1 BFP which ended in baby's HB stopping at around 8wks., When it was OK to TTC again we chose IUIs in Oct,and Nov, both BFN, then one shot at IVF, which has resulting in 3 embies transfered on 2/19. I think everyone there is hoping I have triplets! I am currently in the 2WW post IVF transfer. If we have triplets, of course we will feel VERY blessed, in shock, but blessed. We are hoping for a least one healthy, viable full term pregnancy thou. Even thou we have 4 snowbabies as well, we are not even thinking about that.
The IVF blog is just that, a blog. It shows statistics which are acurate. A 30% of getting pregnant, when with TR, or natural is what? 15-20%? As with all pregnancies, it is a chance, regardless of how you go about doing it. If the blogs seems as if it is more in favor of doing a TR, just remember, this is a forum for Tubal Reversals, and of course it is going to lean more in favor of that.
I know of a girl, who did 2 IVF, heartbreakingly both ended in MC, one at 6 months. So they decided to do TR, and both tubes ended up being blocked!, so she is going for IVF a third time.
You have to do what you feel is right for you, and what you can be at peace with. Do not put too much into what you may read here that you may take as a negative. IVF IS expensive, and it CAN be stressful, but so is trying and trying month after month for years going for tests, dr appts, etc, when you haven't gotten pregnant yet, and you are trying to find out why.
Don't give up on what you feel the next step has to be for you.
