So what exactly is Cannulation? My rt. side is blocked at the surgical site which it was a really short tube so they did the tubouterine implantation which they sewed it right into my uterus so my blockage is close to the uterus. Would I be a good candidate for that procedure instead of having to go through the reversal surgery again? Thanks!

Hi. I had both tubes blocked. I know what you are saying about the HSG . It really hurt...I think that is becuase the tubes are blocked and there is no where for the dye to go and they are using a lot of pressure. Anyway, I actually had two HSG's. The first one Dr. Berger felt was inconclusive. For the second one, I took 2 vicodin about 30 minutes prior and it was painless. After that, I went for a consultation for cannulization (SP?). The radiologist that I saw said that the procedure can only be done if the blockage is near the connection of tube/uterus. My tubes of course were blocked at the surgical site, which I am guessing is somewhere in the middle. I did fly back to CH (from California) 13 months after my first TR to have a repeat. Dr. Berger fixed me right up and now I have a nine month old daughter.
Hope this give you hope and the information that you are looking for.

Hello, thanks for all the info on the HSG .... Now I face another hard decision. I sent my films to Dr. B and he did confirm my rt side was blocked and questioning the other due to the HSG being so poorly visualized on the left. He said I would be a good candidate for re-reversal so opening the rt side which has the longer tube length..... I don't know what to do The HSG was very painful so I don't know if i should chance it too make sure the lt side is in fact blocked or opened... or have surgery again? I guess I was wondering if anyone has had this procedure cannulation? and what the benefits of it was or if it worked? I am very torn on what to do and would love to hear from anyone out there who is having a hard time. I just would like to know which would be the most beneficial and cost effective seeing is how we've had to pay out of pocket for everything thus far.... But it is a small price to pay when you want something sooo bad. thanks pgracely
