I appreciate your words of encouragement. I find comfort in these boards. I am glad there is a support system such as this. I will be following the boards until I fly out on the 15th and after, hoping for that miracle..and to be able to share it with people like you..people from different walks of life with the same labor of love.

I was rally scared and didnt think I could take it. The staff told me they was giving me something to ease me. After they told me that, I dont remember anything. I woke up to a very sweet lady watching over me like a baby. She let me lay there as long as it took for me to come to. They were being so nice I think I may have stayed a little longer not wanting to leave. I had no pain after, just a little sore but nothing that made me feel like I had just had a TR. They really do take care of you. I could not have ask for more, if anything I think they go way beyond and do more. They really make you feel like you are a queen, and they do what ever it takes to make you pain free. I could go on and on about CH but you will never really understand until you get there. No matter what, you will be in good hands. From the time you join the board, to the time you have your TR, and even after your TR they will always be by your side.I dont think they sleep, someone is always there whenever you need them. I wish you the best and CH I love you all so much!!!
I had a lot of anxiety before the surgery date, too. On the morning of the surgery I felt calm though, and the recovery room nurse Shonette was great at putting me at ease before I went in. Everything moved along very smoothly... Like Miranda said, they took the tube out before I woke up. I felt a little sore in my throat from that, but it wasn't much; then I had icechips to soothe it, and that irritation went away. I didn't feel sick at all afterward; I think that the 2 Zantacs they tell you to take beforehand really help reducing the stomach acid. I was ready to eat a regular meal by dinner. Don't be afraid! The doctors and staff do everything they can to make the experience as comfortable as possible. You'll see. I felt so peaceful and happy afterward that I couldn't believe how stressed out I was before. ~Sarah

I have had three c-sections. The pain was less than a c-section. CH is very responsive to your level of pain. I am normally not very good at asking for pain meds after surgery cause I feel like I am being a big baby, but CH made me feel very comfortable in asking them for more pain meds. I believe it was Martha who helped me and she couldnt be more sweet. It takes a special person to be as patient and responsive as she was. I also felt nausea and they took care of that also. By the time I left the center I was very comfortable. Now a few days later I was hurting pretty bad from exerting myself too much at the airport but the pain killers helped with that.
When they put me under it was quick and I felt comfortable. When I recovered after tubal reversal my DH was at the end of my bed in the recovery room. He knows not to touch me too much while I am in pain, so he was responsive from afar. CH asked me some questions and all I could do was nod yes or no and they were so patient with me, listening to me through my nods.
I think if you get just a regular old cold you will be ok. I know I had a cold when I had my second c-section, with abdonmial surgery they just want to make sure you are coughing well enough to get the sinus drainage out of your lungs. Keeping your lungs clear. So if you do have a cough and a cold, you can use a pillow against your tummy when you cough or sneeze.

The anesthesiologist said she was putting some medication in my IV and I don't remember much else before she was waking me up. I felt fine, just drowsy and a little sore-not sick at all. Becky

Hello Ssullivan! I am typing here at the hotel, awaiting my surgery with Dr. Monteith at 8:30 tomorrow morning. If you have read any of my recent posts, you will know that I also have been a big bundle of stress. I hate to fly, so getting through that was bad enough. But, truly, as soon as I went to my consultation at the center today - all of my anxiety as been relieved. This center is incredibly professional, clean and tip-top!! The Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center website gives you all the information you need to be informed about what will happen each step of the way. And, they go over it several times with you. I had Robin and Erika today and they were so so so sweet and wonderful! I immediately felt better. And Dr. Monteith has a wonderful bedside manner and I just feel like I am in good hands. I think you will probably feel anxiety until you get here and see for yourself. As far as keeping healthy, your best bet is to wash your hands frequently and try (if possible) to stay away from sick people. I wish you luck, and will post how things go after my surgery in the morning. I know you will be fine.!! This is a great place!!

It is nice to meet you. I had my tr on 3/24/08. But after my tubal reversal surgery I still remember everything. I was talking one minute and the next I was out. When I came to I was signing (ASL). The breathing tube and all had me where I did not want to talk. They remove that before you wake up so you never knew it was there. I woke up the main thing on my mind was being sick on my tummy, so the nurse got me a patch to put behind my ear. I woke up, sat up, talked to Dr.B, got up walked to bathroom and got dressed. I then walked out to sit in a chair and as soon as I got in it the van driver was there to take us back to the hotel. So my recovery time in the center was very short. The pain was less than my 2 c-sections I had before. The next day I slept all the way home in the car. I hope this helps you. Miranda

I'm 13 days out for tubal reversal surgery and having some anxiety..which I know is very normal..but doesn't change the fact. Can someone tell me about your experience after surgery regarding the anesthesia/pain. I have a fear of going under since I had gall bladder surgery in 2007. Also, everyone in my family has a cold..uugh..so I need to make sure I don't get it...there's H1N1 Flu all over the place here...and what if I do get a cold?? We are flying in from TN on the 16th. I'm not a worry wart but this upcoming TR is really stressing me.
