I am a completely different person after having my TR in 06. After having my TL I immediately was suffering from horrible periods ( never had this before), hair loss, fits of rage, weight gain, depression, crying all the time..you name I had it pretty much had it. I had all kinds of test ran to see what was wrong with me...they could find nothing. I was told I was getting older and would need to go on BC or depression meds. I declined both! I went through this for 4 1/2 years. I was just researching on the internet one day and was linked to this site where I read stories about PTLS. I was just shocked to " see myself" in these stories. When my DH came home he too read these stories and could not believe the simularities in them. Needless to say I scheduled my TR surgery 1 month later. From the very first cycle I have gone back to my pre TL self. I do not have 1 issue I had before. It has been amazing for me and my family to see the changes in me. My DH even tells people about what has happen to me. It was a God send that DR. Berger listened to me and did not tell me that I was crazy and my issues were not related to TL. I thank God every day for him and how he restored my life back. I am a true believer that it is TL that messes us up and you can be fixed by having a TR. This has been my experience anyway. Best of wishes. Christie TR 3/1/3 06

Just wanted to jump in here and let you know that TR solved all my PTLS problems!
I didnt even realize that is what was going on with me - I joined this board and had my TR to have more children, but after being on the board awhile, and reading posts about PTLS, I realized that was what had been wrong with me for 12 yrs!
After TL, my periods went from 5 days, to 9 or more, with heavy bleeding, lots of clots, and terrible cramping. I'd also get cyclic migraines - starting a couple days before AF started and lasting through her visit. This was accompanied by horrible leg pain as well. Until TL I'd never had bad periods, never experienced migraines. The docs couldnt explain it - and insisted it was either all in my head (yeah, thats where it hurt!) or caused by hormones and wanted me on birth control - which I wouldnt take; why take b/c after TL!!
Anyway, my first cycle after TR, I didnt get the migraine, and the cramps/clots/bleeding was better as well. Now nearly 40 months after TR, I have yet to have another migraine, my periods are down to 5 days, with only two of those full flow bleeding, and just normal cramps. No leg pain anymore either.
Quite a few ladies on the board have reported similar changes for the better after TR.

This is a very interesting question! I don't know the answer, but here is an excerpt from a response that was posted on Yahoo!Answers regarding this:
PTLS is often the result of a rapid decline in estrogen levels due from the blood supply being damaged to the ovaries during the TL surgery. Depending on the damage to the veins and capillaries, blood volume to the ovaries may slightly decrease or can be eliminated completely (isolated ovarian syndrome, common with hysterectomy operations). Many of the symptoms of PTLS are associated with having an estrogen/progesterone imbalance.
Other symptoms, such has heavy painful periods may be caused by a hormonal imbalance, could be caused by adenomyosis (bought on by uterus mussel and tissue being damaged, effected by the TL surgery impairing the blood supply to areas of that organ/mussel) or a combination of both.
Other theories of PTLS and the hormonal imbalance that results after a TL is that "target" or "receptor" cells that are important in the relay of hormonal messages are damaged, destroyed, and or removed during the TL surgery. It is derivable that these target or receptor cells are located within the fallopian tube.
With this in mind, it's possible for a woman to have both her ovaries still functioning to some degree (if blood supply was not damaged), have no major problems with her uterus (again if blood supply was not damaged to that organ), and still be experiencing a PTLS in the form of a hormonal imbalance caused by change in her hormonal message relay system.

I've been researching on the Internet about receptor cells that are located in the fallopian tubes, that act like a telephone communicating hormone levels to the brain.
I know that TL can damage these cells, and I was wondering if anyone knows if the TR will repair the damage to these cells, or are they going to be messed up forever, even if I do get my tubes put back together?
