Praybelieving - I'm so glad to hear things went well for your DH! I am sorry I missed your post on March 10th. I don't remember what the "count" was, but the "motility" was 13%. They did say this should increase over several months. His first test was at 2 months. I think he will test again within a couple months if we are not successful. Right now, I'm on CD29, and 10DPO. So, I'm still holding onto a bit of hope, but I did have a temp drop today, so AF might be just around the corner.
Best wishes to you! I hope to hear more good news from you!

We are back home from our trip to Arkansas!! Everything went very well. We loved Dr. Stanton! He's a great Christian man. His beliefs were very noticable in the office from his decor and his character, even down to him praying with us before the surgery. He even has 8 boys of his own! Dh was a trooper...it took 3 hours due to so much scar tissue from from his past surgery of bilateral hydroceles/vasectomy...his vas deferens were also short on both sides thanks to the previous doctor being sloppy (obviously thinking it was permanent), but he was able to sew them back together. We are supposed to have a sperm count in 3 months. We may go a little ahead of schedule, so we can schedule my TR with Dr. Berger in May. That's what we "want" anyway...so we will see how it all works out and if that is how God has things planned for us. It is ULTIMATELY all His timing and glory!!
Thanks for your story and I pray that you and your dh will be blessed very soon! It's nice to be on the ttc side...just a couple more days and we will be on the way to get dh reversed! Dr. Berger's office called me today and informed me of my TL op report...it sounds like I am a good candidate...so as soon as the funds are available, we will schedule with Dr. Berger...we are hopeful for around May?
Are you saying the sperm count is 13% of what it "should" be? Is he taking any vitamins or herbs? You are right...it only takes one of the millions they produce to swim to the right spot!

Good evening, ladies. I just wanted to stop in and say that I had my TR last June, and my DH (he was DF at the time) had his VR in October. We married the end of December and have been TTC since. I had a positive OPK just the other day, so, we're hoping we got lucky! We'll see in a couple of weeks.
He had his first "count" test in Mid December and they said they were there and motile, but only at about 13% at that time. SO, hoping by now it's picked up some...after all, it only takes ONE good swimmer, right?
My DH had his VR done in Minneapolis, and he was put under for about 4 hours. He was down for a week, and then on light duty for three more.
I am hoping they give my dh something, I can't imagine having that done without being relaxed. They said they'd give him pain medicine afterward. I've had 2 c/s before, but I was so much more sore after my last one with the TL...so I can believe the TR is not that pleasant either in regards to soreness. My first c/s felt like I had done a few situps, that's it. Did your TL not make you really sore? Btw, I am 35 and dh is 41. My dh actually did the consult with Dr. Wilson on the phone (before we found out he was so booked)...boy does he talk fast!

Dr. Wilson gave dh something to relax but dh decided to stay up the night before as long as he could so that he would sleep throught the procedure. It worked he slept. I just know dh was sore for awhile and he said it was way worse than the v. To me TR was rough because I had never had a c section. It took me a couple of weeks to be able to stand up without it hurting. I had tr on a Thursday and went back to a desk job on a monday. If you don't mind me asking how old are you guys. I am 36 and Dh is 31.

How neat, we were trying to get in to Dr. Wilson, but he just now released his July dates! And with a couple of cancellations, we were able to get in earlier with Dr. Stanton, which means I can get my surgery done by summer. DH's vas was 6 years ago as well. My TL was 4.5 years. Thanks for the vitamin advice...I didn't know men took things for sperm count. So, was the VR worse than the TR? I would think that the TR would be worse, however, that is a very "sensitive" area they have to work on for the guys! Yikes! My dh is excited, but also very nervous...and it doesn't appear they give any relaxing meds for the procedure...which doesn't seem too nice. What do you think?

We had our vr 10/07 with Dr. Wilson in Oklahoma where we live. They say only 5% but I just want to make sure there is nothing clogging up the tubes on me. The vr can scar over also so Doctor advised to start taking vitamin c, vitamin e for scarring. He also takes zinc, multi, selinium for sperm motility and morphology. We had sperm present at the time of surgery. He was extremely bruised. He was down a week and then on light duty for two more. Our doctor advised to have sa done 4 months after surgery. I've heard of stanford. Wilson also does it as a ministry. How old is your v? That always makes a difference in how soon you get sperm back. My dh was 6 years old.
Shannon, Thanks for your experience. We live in NC, but are flying to Arkansas to Dr. Stanford for the vas reversal. He does these as a ministry and is a lot cheaper than normal. We found him on the Blessed Arrow site, the same place as we found Dr. Berger and he has good reviews. What about you? How common is it for tubes to close? Are you talking about your tubes or his? I've seen where a lot of men have sperm visualized at the surgery, but I guess the "final" test is at 3 months? Also, what vitamins help sperm count? Any advice you have, we are open! How long ago was your surgery?

My dh had a vas reversal and I have had a TR also. No BFP yet. I think the sperm take a while to build up and then you have to make sure your tubes stay open. I would wait at least 3 months from the time you have your vr till the time you have your tr. Be sure and take vitamins to help the sperm count. We go for an SA next week to see how the sperm count is. What doctor are you using for the vr?

praybelieving, We have seen several couples who both needed a reversal. I think your approach is well thought out and reasonable. I hope your husband's surgery goes well and we will look forward to meeting you in the near future!
I am just wondering if there are any ladies who have had/need a TR and their husband also had/needs a vas-reversal? My husband and I are traveling for his vas-reversal next weekend and then, prayerfully, we are waiting for the funds for my reversal with Dr. Berger...we are thinking maybe April/May. Sometimes it takes up to a couple of months for sperm counts to be up after a vas-reversal and it sounds like Dr. Berger gives the ok once you go thru one cycle...so we figured it would be best to get him done first.
