Hey Misty, first things first you should send in your OP report for us to take a look at and we can know more about you tubal ligation. As far a being able to take the pain we have an excellent team of anesthesiologists that do an awesome job of minimizing pain. Also Dr. Berger uses a great micro surgery and less invasive technique which causes less pain.We will send you home with the proper medicines to keep you from feeling pain. I hope this information has been helpful and I hope to see you here soon. Matt Murphy,ST
I also have 3 children, and had 3 C-sections. The last one being the worst because of having the TL along with it. The TR is soo much easier. Babybird has a point that it does seem to consume your life, but the way I look at it is that before my TR I had 0 chance of getting pregnant and even though I am 15 months past TR and no BFP's there is always a chance that it will happen. I know it is alot to think about but u should defiantely go into it with the realization that it might not happen. Hope this helps.

Misty, I have had 2 c-sections and the tr is a walk in the park. To me it felt more like a real intense work out of set ups or an ab workout. Mine felt more like aching muscles. You are in wonderful hands with Dr. Berger and you will handle it fine. Hope all of the input makes it easier to make your decision.

Misty I have 2 children. Both came by c-section so I understand where you are coming from. My husband does not have any children of his own either. He is praying for one soon. I had my TR 3-24-08. It was much easier than the c-sections. I also was dealing with PTLS and it is much better even though it has only been a short time after the surgery. I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers. Miranda
I had a very hard recovery from TR. The travel was awful after having surgery and I had a lot of pain. Some women have none at all. It will be different for each person.
Like you, I have 3 children and my DH has none. I had TR 1 year ago this month and I do not think it was the best choice for my family. I have had no BFPs and I'm sure if I had gotten pg right away I would feel differently. When you don't get pg after TR, your whole life gets put on hold. Now I am one year out and in limbo because every month could be the month, or not... I am struggling to make plans for myself and my family, "just in case". I have spent so much money on the surgery, travel, Dr. appts, ultrasounds, and meds. I truly wish we would have just tried IVF and if it didn't work, move on. It takes patience and strength to make this journey if you have any glitches at all.
I'm sure this will not be the most popular opinion, but it has been my experience. I am now in the painful process of having to consider some type of birth control so I can truly move on with my life and not be "surprised". Please take some time to consider all these things before you have surgery. Dr. Berger isn't going anywhere soon, I'm sure.

It's not fair to even compare TR with a c-section. I've never had a c-section but I can say that the TR was much easier than my TL. I think I took the pain meds for 48 hrs and that was just because I was scared if I stopped taking them that I would hurt. I just took the ibuprofin and took it easy. The day of my surgery we came home because I live so close to the clinic. I had my surgery first that morning and by 2pm I was at home walking around and riding to go pick my kids up from school. That night I helped my husband cook dinner and helped the kids with their homework and felt fine. It was a little sore getting up off the bed in the morning and if I sneezed or coughed but other than that it wasn't painful at all. Since having the TR I don't clot or have the cramping that I had before TR. I have my sex drive back and have much less severe mood swings around AF time. It was worth twice the amount that I paid and I only wish I had found Dr. Berger sooner and skipped all the years of suffering. Dr Berger and his staff are great, they'll explain the whole thing to you and take however much time you need to make you comfortable.

A couple of days after tr I had to drive to florida to pick up my oldest 2 children. While we were there we took the kids to adventure island and spent the whole day. Long story short u can do it.I agree with the other lady, although it is not 100% we have a better chance than we did before.

Well if you had a C-section--the TR is nothing compared to that. I have never had a c-section but have heard it talked about on here. My recovery wasn't bad at all and I had never had abdominal surgery before plus I am a huge wimp when it comes to pain. As far as pain goes--I was never in any real pain because I took my pain meds around the clock for about 4 days. You have to take it easy though and not overdo it. After 4 days I only took advil and I was fine, just had to move slow. I have a job where I am on my feet all day and it involes lifting so I took off a whole week and was fine after that.
As far as the surgery working---well no one can answer that one for you. Having a TR gives you a CHANCE to have another baby, it is by no means a guarantee. But by having the TR you will have more of a chance than you do right now which is none so..... Best of luck to you!!

Hi everyone. I have 3 children but my husband has none. We are thinking about having this done very seriously but I am a little nervous about it. I want another baby and I definitely want to give him a baby. I just don't know if the surgery will work for me. I don't know if i can handle the pain of it either. The c-section and tubal at once I thought was going to die from the pain the first week. I just really need to know what it is like and some advise on the whole thing. Thank you for your time to read this and for those of you who answers back thank you ahead of time.
