I had my TL Feb. 14, 2001. I was 19 and had my son July 1999, and twin girls in Dec. 2000. We were told one would never walk, talk, etc. would need 24 hour care. I thought another child would be very difficult if I was having to do all that. Well they were way wrong she is fine except asthma and a delayed speech problem that is almost fixed with therapy. Now I am the one all screwed up and can't handle life. I want to stay in bed and cover my head. the problem I am having is losing the weight. I am down some and trudging on through.

I remember one of the ladies on the board say that she got her hormones evaluated and that she was "estrogen dominant." Although known as a female hormone, estrogen is also a "masculinizing" hormone and can cause facial hair. Years ago, my aunt was given DES (a form of estrogen that is not legal anymore because it causes cancers) and she grew a lot of facial hair and had to have electrolysis.

Since my TL, I have also noticed increased facial hair, too. Definitely not fun... [Frown]

Dannygirl..yes it is a sign of PTLS. If you got tested it would most likely show a elevated tetesterone( sp..sorry)..your hormones are out of wack after a TL.. Sometimes it takes a while for this to happen or it can be soon after TL. I didn't get facial hair until almost 4 years after TL..ALONG with getting older. I had the TR in 06 and within 6 months it was all gone !!!
Best of wishes

Hi, I am new to this board, but have read for years. I am wanting a reversal but need to lose weight and save money. My question is I have every symptom of PTLS but, I also have notice an increase in facial hair and in some other areas as well but does this also come from PTLS?

Hi Guys
I have something new wondered if anyone else had had sudden changes with there cycle...like I posted previously I usually have the same pattern every month a week or so before I start with the tender breast and cramps then I bleed heavy for about 2 days with alot of clotting then go to spotting then pickup for another day or two then I get about 3 days of a real brown discharge cramps by this time let up and so does migrane but the wierd thing this month is my breat never bothered me and I only had a slight headache on and off....my cramps were different they seemed to be less severe I don't know how to explain it...I did bleed heavey for about 2 days no clots but noticed discharge in with the blood..after 3 days it stopped but I still have some wierd cramps there in my hips butt and lower abdomen and a little leg cramps but nothing like normal for me.. but don't really hurt just know they are there...strange then I was at the store yesterday and all of the sudden I felt really hot and my body felt really heavy it was weird..just thought I would share to see if anyone else has had similiar things happen?

Tammy,
We hear similar stories from so many of our patients. Let me refer you to Dr Berger's blog on PTLS. As you can see, you are not alone in this struggle.

Hi Mama12,
It is so refreshing to hear all the stories of success on here after TR...It makes us who are still suffering relize that we are not crazy and that to some degree we have solutions to our problems. For me it is not just the bleeding it is the pain and the migraines I get for about 2 weeks out of the month. I also get rapid heart and palputations....I read this can aslo be linked to this so I have an appt with my cardiologist and I am taking some info I found with me to ask if that is possible since they have not been able to tell me why it happens to me even after being hospitalized several times for tachycardia. It would at least put my mind at ease as to why it happens rather then not knowing.

Tammy my main problem with working was the bleeding... I thank God am lucky and have been able to have a good running business of my own, but had I had a normal job there is no way I could've kept it. The bleeding was so out of control I'd have to leave my work and go home, I know all about it. It's shortened my periods down to 5-6 days tops instead of 9-14 days. It's been 6 months so far and so far so good.
It is really hard to function when you bleed heavily, if you can get it done, do it, I think it may work and relieve a lot of what you are dealing with.

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for encouraging words. This whole things has just been a roller coaster I had to stop working about year ago due to a lot of the problems I have and it has caused so many financial issues but the way I look at it is if it ....is meant to be it will happen I just put it in God's hand.

Tammy - Too also let you know, I watched this message board for 2 years. Reading the comments and saving money for the surgery. Like most of those here I would be doing good then something would happen and it was gone. I sat down and talked with my DH and we seriously started saving. We had the full amount in 6 months. I scheduled finally and had my TR. I am like you in a way. I would love to have a child again, but if it doesn't happen it won't be the end of the world. At least, according to the other women's stories, I will feel better than I have for the past 12 years. And nothing will compare to that.

You read these stories and it's like someone is telling you....your life. I hope everything gets better for you after your TR. You will have to let me know and I am courious if helps since tubals have been so long? I wondered if damage at this point was not reversable? Please let me know how things go...hopefully my day will come too.

I don't know whether or not I had PTLS. I can tell you had had severe cramps and clotting after my TL. I have cramps that go down my legs and back as well. My DH will tell you I get very emotional B4 AF. He knows to just stay away and calm for a couple days. I could be laughing, depressed, crying or having an axiety attack. I don't know if any symptoms will disappear or not. But hopefully!! I had my TR 4/23/08 and AF will be here shortly. I also could feel when I ovulated. It would be a pain in my stomach that would hurt so bad I could not even make a step, the pain would shoot to my stomach with every move. My TL was in 1996. Like you I remarried, have been for 7 years. I think this whole experience will be to right a wrong. A decision I was never informed what the effects would be.

Hi coloradomomo3,
Thanks for the post. You are right DR should be responsible for telling us everything not making us think we are crazy....this has been 11 yrs for me all this time thinking it was in my head going to doctors and them telling me some things just can't be explained......
I pray everyday someone will help me and I have even begun to forget what it feels like to be normal.
Thanks
Tammy

Tammy, you mentioned cost being an issue. If you'd like to discuss financing or the prepayment account, feel free to email me at ErickaP@tubal-reversal.net.

Tammy,
I am only 35 and have not had near as severe PTLS symptoms as other gals have described, but I can tell you that what I did have are gone. I suffered from the hair loss, dry skin, acne, etc. Minor symptoms, but gone. Based on what I have read, I think that it could very well benefit you. There are also many of us who were never advised of the risks, nor were we offered counseling about TL. There should be some way that we could hold all of our doctors liable for what has been done to us, given as they never advised us of the side effects. Good luck!!!
