The risk of M/c and e/p goes up with age and shorter tube length. The 15% is for ectopic not m/cs...
'Because of the risk of tubal pregnancy (approximately 10-15 percent) following tubal surgery, it is important to notify your obstetrician-gynecologist and Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test.'
'Table 8 shows the relationship between age and pregnancy outcome. With increasing age, the percentage of pregnancies resulting in births declined due to an increasing percentage of miscarriages. Among women UNDER age 35, over half of pregnancies resulted in birth or ongoing pregnancy while one third miscarried. The birth rate declined and the miscarriage rate increased significantly for women ages 40 and older. The ectopic pregnancy rate was higher than that found in the general population of women who have not had a tubal ligation, which is approximately 2.5%. The ectopic pregnancy rate after tubal reversal surgery, however, may be overstated since many early pregnancy losses were reported as ectopic pregnancies without confirmation of the diagnosis. Some of these pregnancies may have been miscarriages. Whether there is an increased risk of miscarriage associated with tubal reversal is unclear. The miscarriage rate reported in the general population ranges from approximately 20% to 50% depending on a woman's age and the extent of early pregnancy testing.'

Thanks for the encouragements ladies. It makes me tear up just to read about some of the things you all have gone through. You're right, the most important thing is the chance to have another child. Once we are TTC we may change our minds. It all just seems a little scary to me now. Good luck and God's blessings to you all. For me, only time will tell. I'll keep you posted.

I agree with Scarlet, there are many missed miscarriages that go un noticed because we aren't charting prior to really trying hard for the baby like we are now. I have had 1 m/c and now I am almost 12 wks prgnt, while it was an early loss it was a hard loss, but if it took that loss to bring me to the blessing I am carrying today so be it. Yes without TR there is no chance of m/c but without TR there is no chance of being pregnant at all unless you have the money for IVF which can still result in M/C.

Loretta, Also take into account that while most of us have never had a m/c prior to TR, we also didn't chart our fertility and test for pregnancies before we missed our AF's. The symptoms for a m/c can be misread as our AF starting. Many women have actually had a M/C and never knew it. Since we are checking for a BFP so soon, we are more aware of them when they happen. There is a slight increase in the chance for a m/c, following a TR, I think around 15%. My TR is in 2 weeks and I am excited of the prospect of having a child with my DH who has none of his own. I am also anticipating the possibility of a m/c before I get a keeper!! Think positive, the alternative is never knowing if you could have had another child. Best of luck to you & lots of baby dust your way after June! Trisha

I had my TR 3/26/08 so this is my first cycle trying. I have read the boards too and it doesn't look hopeful but if you really read they have had m/c's but in the end many of them have gone on to have healthy pregnancies. I know I will endure what ever it takes to finally have a sweet baby in my arms. I know that some people feel differently. I have had a m/c before and it was not fun but hopefully in the end it is all worth it though. You know what, just to have a chance to have a baby again is well worth it for me. Please try not to let this weigh to much on your decision because all of these woman are different and some have other reasons for the m/c's. This is just my opinion.
Congratulations on scheduling your TR and I wish you the best of luck.

I'm scheduled for my tr in June and I've been reading the message board everyday. There seems to be so more m/c than births which is very alarming. My question is, those of you who have had a m/c did you have any issues with past pregnancies or does this surgery make you prone to m/c? Some of the ladies on here have gone through so many and I can't imagine what that is like. My DH and I have decided that if it happens to us twice we aren't going to keep trying. My heart goes out to all of you who have suffered such a loss. If anyone could chime in and give me some info I would appreciate it. Thanks Loretta
