Your posts have truly blessed me. I appreciate you understanding. I do beleive in God and I beleive I am where I am supposed to be. I could trust a little more and be a better christian; however, I am trying. I thank God for everything he has done for me and everything that he is going to continue to do. I desire a baby but I was also taught that my wants won't kill me. I have faith and hope that my patience will pay off. I am going to meet Dr. B but it will be in God's time.

I can relate completely too. My husband is self employed. He does vinyl siding. For the past two years, he hasn't even had a vacation. He is booked solid. This year, things have slowed down alot. Where he used to leave one job and go straight to the next the following day, now it may be several days or a week before he starts a new job. He told me last weekend that this year so far he's only made about 1/4 of what he usually has made by now. Not many people are building new and the people who own houses aren't spending extra money for the exterior of their homes. The positive is that I work full time and cover the medical insurance for the family. We would really be hurting if I was still a stay at home mom. (However, I miss that job more than my current one, lol). I am planning to have mine paid off early next year, and get in asap after that. GL to all, Melody

I'm so happy you have an emergency fund! I know HOW hard it is to be a grown up in a world full of people who choose to have things they cannot afford via using credit.
I'm so very sorry your husband is experiencing difficulties with work. However, I'm overjoyed that you have trusted in the Lord and continue to seek His will and pray for direction! I will pray for your family, and your struggle at this time.
I understand financial difficulty and WAITING for what we want, and even what we need. I don't think too many people actually relate, because budgeting is so foreign in our society today. If they feel they need it or they want it, they get it...I'm not being judgmental, as we are all free to live as we see fit! I simply am reaching out to you because I so relate and respect your patience, because we operate like that as well.
We are the only family I know who doesn't spend what they don't have. It's hard to teach that to your kids when other children go go go to all the fun places and they spend spend spend.
Just know I will be praying for you, and I can relate. Our TR is three years in the making, and sacrifice. My husband has his own CPA practice, so people automatically assume we are rich! However, when paying high taxes, workman's comp and all the expenses that come with being self employed (like $500+ a month health insurance premiums, retirement, life insurance, office rent, etc) it means we often make a lot less than many would think!
Sorry to ramble...I've just had one of those days where I am praising Him in a bit of a storm.
May God richly bless you and your family for relying on Him!

I did pray and I feel that waiting until 09 is what the lord wants me to do. When we decided to put the surgery off for a couple of months then I felt so much better. I like the rest of you want it now, but after praying and thinking I beleive my time will come but it's not this month. I am a nurse, so fortunately I am pretty secure with my job. My husbnad however is struggling. Last year, he was making $25/hr with a company truck and no fuel expenses. This year he is making $10/hour and we have to purchase the vehicle and fuel to commute to work. Things have changed drastically for my family. I prayed that I would somehow come up with extra money to pay his truck off which was $580/month. I paid it off today. We also have put our boat up for sale to hopfully pay my car off. I have the money for my surgery but right now it's an emeregency fund. Who knows how much it's going to cost us to heat this winter. I pray for each of you to get what you desire.

I fully agree with Rebecca. Of course, we need to be prepared and understand that we are a nation in debt, and a nation that may very well have some rough times in store.
However, as a Christian, I live in a faith that I am quite small in the scheme of things, and I know who controls all. I also think that our nation could be in for some pretty rough times, as I personally believe that our nation's sinfulness can't continue on in God's blessing forever...however, I realize this is getting OT!
With these uncertain times, there is always a steadfast certainty we can fall back on. I encourage all of you to search your hearts, and work hard to be debt free. If you owe no-one anything, then you have a lot less to worry about! It's hard to be a large family on one-income who doesn't utilize credit, but it is the best insurance that your money is yours.
I pray for assurance from God Himself for all of us, as many in our nation are struggling like never before. God Bless!

a little nervous - I know exactly what you mean! I work in the Real Estate industry which is all over the news due to the recent slump and increase in forclosures. I worry all of the time. My husband also was put on "contract" and is expected to lose his job in July. We expect him to find something fairly quickly.
I am scheduled for July 21st, and although it would have been real easy to call CH and cancel, to get those funds back. We made the decision to pursue our dream and happiness. To hand it over to God.

We can all worry or just let God be in control, which He is no matter what we do. This is ultimately between you, your famiy, and God. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Alittlenervous.... You can always get the TR done then be careful to conceive when it's a better time. Me and my Dh see both ends of it, he has a job I have a business, I tell you it's no joke right now we've been struggling for months, everyone is. Jam said it though perfectly. At least work toward your dream. Julia is right too. We are in a time or turmoil. A war, a new president is on the way things are going to change. Usually they get better though when this happens. We are in a definite slump though, there is no denying that!! It's like everyone's income is not keeping up with the increased cost of things.... You could get it done and wait to TTC, at least you'd be getting somewhere in your goal, getting the hard part done. Depends on how tight money is for you right now... You aren't the only one scared. I'm no economist but when people stop spending it makes it worse for everyone. The war simply needs to end and endless funneling of money out of the US too. When you donate even, if you can, keep it at home girls, you want to see extreme poverty, I can send you some pics from the hills of TN, you'll understand the $$$ needs to stay at home. Talk to your churches, your school groups, clubs etc.... Keep the money in the US!!! There's no excuse in 2008 for the ways people live here... it's 3rd world in some places. Think I'm joking, reply w/ your email address I can show you how it is, I've seen farm animals live better ... it's completely heartbreaking. I had no idea of the amount of poverty in the south until I moved here. Right here in this country. Buy American made when you can it helps too!!!

Jamm777 very well put. I am absolutely afraid of the future because Im not sure what it holds for me or for our nation. But if you put it in gods hands and just pray about it, he will provide the answer that you need in order to make a decision whether or not to move forward with this decision. But I do agree 100% with Jam777 if you stop living your dream you stop living. You only have 1 life to live and you need to be able to look back and have no regrets. Its not a light decision so dont jump at it, be patient pray and if it is the lords will for you it will happen. Good luck sweetie with whatever you decide to do. Your in my thougths and prayers. It is always a good idea to consider finances and the economy before spending money -- and each person must assess her own situation. However, this is not the first time that the economy has been in a slump and it usually returns to an improved, even prosperous, state within a year or two. Those of us who are "of a certain age" can recall one or two times that this has happened previously!
