I called CHTRC and Dr.Berger sent a order for one to the hospital near us that did it. So my husband just went there after the wait time and had it done. He said it was nothing like he thought it would be.lol. Miranda

my DH just turned 31, and previously conceived a child as well. I have my own fertility issues (age, 1 blocked tube), but we went ahead and had a SA done as well, and it turned out that he had elevated white blood cell for some reason, which affected morphology, and needed antibiotics. If you are wondering about it, I would go ahead and get the SA, esp if your insurance covers it, which ours did. If it turns out fine, GREAT! At least you have that piece of mind, which is well worth the $. PLUS you have that piece of paper to look at when you need the extra reassurance yourself that it will and can happen (pregnancy), which is the reason I used to get my DH to agree to the SA
Your GYN can actually write the script for your DH to get a SA. I just told mine we wanted to make sure that "everything" was good in all areas, given that what I am having to do (TR, testing, etc)

my husband is 30 and has no children of his own..due to the fact that he actually used protection all those years...should we consider him having a SA done?..if so who do you consult and what do you say? Thanks

Hi my name is Miranda. My husband is 22 and has no children of his own. Because he has none we had him take a SA before I got the surgery. It is best to have the SA done if the reason for the TR is a baby. That way you know if he can father any. I wish you all the best.

Ok I have a question about the semen analysis thing. My dh is 24 years old and we have 2 boys together and I was just wondering is the semen analysis something that we should consider or not, we had NO trouble at all conceiving our boys we tried for about 2 months with the first and then 6 months after our 1st was born I was pregnant again without trying at all? I am scheduled for my TR on Aug 4. We are not planning on trying to conceive anytime soon but just wanted to know if this is still something we need to do before TR or before we try and conceive.
