i used my flex acct at my job and it was a piece of cake. After i paid for it i sent them a summarized receipt which they give u at the office of the TR center and that was it. I put 4000.00 on mine and paid the rest in cash. I was so glad that i did it that way. Its like financing and a tubal ligation is a covered expense. I would recommened that u contact them and make sure b4 u pay for it.

flex is stupid in MICHIGan.. well my hubbys was they wanted copies of everything, needed proof it was for a medical thing, or cancel the card.. then you have to have it reenstated... some reciepts werent good enough.. others werent what they wanted.. making several different trips to try and get right papers to fax .. it became a hassle for us..

usually during your open enrollment you chose how you want to have taken out for an annual amount up to $5000 depending on employer. it is pretax dollars. and they deduction the amount you selected by equal amount over the period of 1 year. the money is usually available in full at the first of the year. they give you a visa card (depending on the company) and you use it as any other visa. save your receipt because they require receipts for backup documentation that it was for a medical expense. i paid the full amount for my tr with flex. because they give us a grace period up to mark for the previous year, i put part of my money from one year and the remainder of my money for this year. i don't see the money so i don't miss it coming out of my check.

Hello everyone after reading some post about the flex spending account I have some ???s? I was talking to my DH about it and he said oh we have one of those at work, but we have no idea how it works! Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks Jennifer in NC
