Hey Ladies thanks for the replies. Our credit is not great due to us moving from alaska to ky b/c my husband is in the military and I can never keep a job very long due to that. If y'all know as well when you are military you dont make a lot of money. I just got a job last week makin a little money thank goodness she pays every week so all that money plus the 500.00 a month I am puttin away should be enough to have it by this fall since I make about 250 a week as well. Wish me luck!!

Chris- I never thought about purchasing a cashier's check with a credit card-hmmm, something to think about. Now if I could just figure out how to prevent my husband from killing me....

Jenn- I think AE does balance tranfers, but the APR is high on that too. The only time they give you a good deal is when you first get the card. I really appreciate the advice, though. Thanks.

Chris- That sounds like a great idea, the only thing is the APR on a cash advance is 22.24%! I guess if I get desperate enough I might be willing to do it. I also thought about waiting as long as possible, then applying for a new card with a 0% interest for a year. I get those offers all the time. Either way I will be putting a financial strain on us. I appreciate the advice.
1. Take out a cash advance from your American Express. 2. Deposit the money into your checking account. 3. Send Chapel Hill a check or pay over the phone with your debit card.

I'm so frustrated! I just realized that I have $9,000. available credit on my American Express card, but OF COURSE that's not one they take. I only have $1,800. available on my Mastercard, so it will be FOREVER before I can use that one. I've been trying to find a job so I can start saving for my TR, but every job I look into clashes with my husband's schedule.(He works nights, from 8:00pm to 6:30am.) Then of course he has to sleep until about 2:00pm to get enough sleep for the next night. We don't have anybody that could help out with childcare, so we have to juggle it between the two of us. I am desperate to get this done ASAP, but nothing seems to be going my way. I don't know what to do.Thanks for letting me vent.

I took out a loan and paid all at once. I figured whether I 'saved' $200 a month or made a loan payment of $200 a month, either way it was still costing me $200 a month. However, by getting the loan I could have the surgery right away instead of having to wait until I saved up all the money. I do have to pay interest on the loan, but for me it was worth not having to wait. I am 41 and impatient ;-) Chris
