I am 38 and pregnant. My doctor has told me for about 3 years that I had high prolactin levels and that I may not be able to even get pregnant. But I am 5 1/2 months now.I think sometimes when you go looking for something, you find something and then theres something else you worry about and makes it harder to relax while TTC.If you feel like there is something wrong,go for it.But I even had irregular periods at times and so many different things going on with my body, but I just believed in God for my baby and I knew that in due time,I would concieve no matter what doctors or anyone else had to say.God has the last say-so!! I pray all is well with you and that you are encouraged! Leslie EDD-8/01/08

Linda, if your physician will not do the tests, you could always look into the labs ( such as Lab Corp or Quest Diagnostics) to see if they accept walk-ins for these services.

Just wanted to chime in - you really should have your levels checked. I had my TR at 37 - all my life my cycle has been perfectly regular. But the tests showed some problems anyway - although my body shows every sign of ovulation - my progesterone is too low to sustain a pregnancy which according to the doctors means I am not ovulating well enough to get pg.
If there is a problem, you'll want to know as soon as possible to get it under control.

Should women have there hormone level checked before TR if they are 38 years old? Every time I ask my doctor to check them he says as long as I have my menstrual regular ,My hormones are fine. I just don\'t know what to do. I have had 2 doctors tell me the same thing. Should I just forget about getting the hormones checked ? Or should I find a doctor that will check them ? I am so stress over this. I just want to make sure that i'm not going to go threw the change of life early, So please can someone shed light on this for me? thanks Linda
