Oh yes, I had thought of that too... DH all to myself!!
Our oldest just turned 11 years old today, and I think it has probably been 11 years since we ever went anywhere together without the 3 girls. I agree that it will be a nice time to reconnect.

Louise, I couldn't agree more!! That is one main reason we are staying that extra day! My husband is the highway superintendent in our town and works a lot of hours...then with the 3 kids, there is not too much time for "US"...We take it when we can get it!! Looking forward to it!! ~Shannon

There is another benefit of staying the extra day, and that is more one-on-one time with your DH. I've seen many posts where ladies say it was a great time to bond. My DH works nights, so time together is a precious commodity! I'm sure you will not regret staying the extra day. GL!!

I just wanted to give all of you an update... I talked to my DH and my mom (the 2 people who know me the best AND were there to take care of me after my 3 c-sections) and they both suggested that I stay the extra day. My mom has agreed to watch our children while we are gone, so if she doesn't mind, I figured I'd go for the extra day. Thanks again. ~ Michelle

Thank you all so much! I did have 3 c-sections and remember not being able to stand up straight and just shuffling my feet as I tried to walk... not a pretty picture. It seems as though most of you were able to stand up straight and move around OK, though a bit slower than normal.

I flew home next day...to Chicago....didn't need wheelchair...took pain meds before boarding and slept the entire flight. Only special treatment was I was able to board first. Pretty much a breeze!

I flew home the next day too. It was no problem at all. For the whole thing I think I only tood 3 of the pain killers they gave my and a few advil-- I didn't use a pillow or anything on flight. I just walked a little slower and more careful than usually. It really was an easy surgery.

I flew home the next day after surg. to Houston,Texas and heres a few things i did. 1st i booked a straight flight it didnt cost to much more and was the best thing i ever did. When i got to the airport my husband informed the check in person i had just had surg. the day before and they let me and my husband board first and i took a window seat so knowone ran into me plus the check in girl called ahead to the Houston airport and they had a Wheel chair waiting for me when i returned. A nurse a Chapel Hill also told me before boarding to take a Pain Pill and also 2 Advil so it would last longer and i truely believe thats what helped me the most because i had no pain at all of coarse i took the whole surg. better than most i was up walking around the hotel after surg. and shopping and playing on the computer while my husband went and took a nap and no i usually dont take pain very well at all. I hope these things help. I also had a pillow (actually the hotel manager told me to take there little one from my bed since i brought a big one) but i didnt use it at all but alot of girls love the pillow but it didnt do a thing for me. Good luck for a easy surg. and recovery
I am planning to do my TR around Aug/September. I will be flying for 21 hrs minimum and 25 hrs maximum (depending on the route) from South Africa.I need toat least wait a full day after surgery. God knows how I'm going to survive such a long flight.

Dear Michelle, I am glad to hear that you have scheduled your surgery date. As you can see everyone is a little different as far as how they feel the day after surgery. Most patients do fine flying home the day after surgery, but I would encourage you to do what you feel is best for you. The additional days rest could only do you good. I look forward to meeting you at your consultation. Rhonda

Wow, that was a great question to ask! I already booked my flights, and opted to stay an extra day. I am flying from Oklahoma, and have to change planes in Dallas, which often times, means riding the sky-link (train) to another concourse, and I do not look forward to that, since it is not the smoothest ride. Whoever suggested wheelchair assistance is brilliant- I believe I will do that on the way home! I did have a C-section once, and, even though I hear this is not as severe, I am a little nervous...

Hi Michelle. I live in California and did fly home the next day. If you stay on your pain med protcol you should be fine. If you have had a C-section before you will know what to expect, although this procedure is about 1000 times less painful and much easier to walk after.

I flew home the day after surgery, alone, which I do not advise but I was kinda ina bind. My sis in;aw was to fly back with me she live in Raleigh but she had something Urgent come up at work, and was called in that day. I opted for the wheelchair service which was free and someone actually wheeled me from one gate to the next at my connection, I had a layover in ATL then on to home in FT Hood Texas. I was fine over all, a little sore for which I used ice packs and took my pain meds regularly to stay ahead of the pain. All in all it was not too bad, but then I was lucky enought to not run into to any delays or mechanical failures. I wish you much success:) I had my TR 9/10 and actually flew home on 9/11 taking advantage of a fare so cheap it was UNBELIEVABLE! I am now 11 weeks pregnant and expectingm my berger blessing on 11/25.

yes, I think it will be hard to find a direct from NC to RSW....Southwest has flights but you have to get off the plane, and then it looks like most of them are a 2 hour lay-over. Sorry, I looked for you! I do know that they will let you pre board, and if need be will take you by wheelchair to the next gate. All the gates are close together too.
