I live in Ft. Myers and have not been able to find a direct flight. Most of them have been through Charlotte and a few are through Miami (which I would avoid after surgery).

Sara, Is the pillow for holding on to your stomach when you try to sit and stand? I'm not sure if I understand [Confused]

Thanks!

Michelle, which city are you flying to that you would have to get on a plane in Raleigh, fly to Charlotte, and then transfer? Just curious. I live in Florida as well (Orlando). I know that there are direct flights from Raleigh. I slept a lot day of surgery, and then flew home the next after getting checked out. When I went up to the gate, I explained that I had just had surgery, and could not really walk fast, and requested pre-boarding, no problems.

I flew home the next day, and had a connecting flight as well. If I had it to do over again, I'd stay the extra day- I was pretty miserable after a few hours of travel- and this was with using a wheelchair at the airport. If it had been just one flight, I'm sure it would have been fine, but changing over for me was pretty rough. -Traci

Michelle I flew home the next day. My surgery was on a Wednesday and I flew out Thursday at 4:00 pm. I had to fly to Boston which was a 2 hour flight. I had no problems at all. I was glad I did because I think the worst day for me was Friday! Not that I was in extreme pain or anything it was just a little harder to move around. I think my TR sisters both said that Friday was a little sorer for them too. Good Luck with your TR. Dr. Berger is amazing and your in good hands.

I have scheduled for my TR on June 19th and am wondering whether I should stay an extra day at the hotel because I'm not sure how I'll feel on the plane trip home. I am flying to FL and will have to change planes once in Charlotte.

Did anyone fly home the day after surgery or did you wait an extra day at the hotel? I am very curious about your experiences flying home and if you have any suggestions or recommendations for me.

~ Michelle
