hi. We will be leaving for CHTRC sept.21st. We are leaving early so we can sight see.Does anyone know any good stops between Ohio and NC??? THANKYOU
I'd definately not consider the bus, that's my opinion. My DH didn't want to consider flying. We are going to drive to CHTRC from Mississippi for TR in Oct. It's going to be about 12-13 hr. drive according to mapquest. Driving is what DH and I are comfortable with--for 'us'. You may decide that some other form of trasportation is best for 'you'. Just consider all pros and cons of each type of transportation you are thinking about. Think of how you 'may' feel after the TR and what you may need. Good luck to you.

Hi Darkfeary, If you don't want to drive you might consider looking into traveling by Amtrak (train). Their toll free number is 1-800-872-7245. Looking forward to meeting you. Martha S.,LPN
I think my husband and I will probably Drive the trip when its time , We Love to drive on trips like this also so it would be a bonus!
We Just did not know if there was a better form of travel medical wise, but it makes sense to be able to stop and get out of the car from time to time and stretch and not have to set the whole trip back home after the surgery.

I think that driving could be more comfortable and probably less expensive. In the car you can stretch out more than in a plane and stop and eat at the restaurants along the way. The Greyhounds are not very comfortable and a I imagine even less after having surgery. Matt Murphy, ST
I agree with the others with regards to taking the bus. Although we have had patients utilize Greyhound, you definitly are not in control of when you need to stop. Flying will reduce your travel time and often, Southwest and AirTran offer great deals from up North to RDU. Good luck in your search and hope to meet you soon.

I am with Carol on not taking the bus. You will be sore and if you were diving on your own you could stop when needed to take meds and get out and move around. You will also need bathroom breaks too. I needed more coming back than going there. Many choice to fly. But I have no idea there because I never have. Like Carol I had only a 3 hour drive. There was a small airport at my house that would fly right to CH but I wanted the control over when I could stop and get out on my way home. I wish you all the best. Miranda

While bus may be more cost efficient, I doubt you would want to take it for the ride home. You may be uncomfortable and I can't imagine getting a relaxing, comfortable ride on a Greyhound bus.
You could check into Amtrak...but from Ohio you would have to go east to MD first then down to NC....probably would be faster to drive.
Its about 8-9 hours I think. That would be about $300 in gas round trip.
Flights from Cleveland to Raleigh look to be about $200-$250 a person.
I didn't realize how fortunate I was coming from just 2 hours east. I have heard that people come from all over the world to see Dr. B! Good luck!
My husband and I have been looking up Different methods of travel for our soon to be trip to CH for my TR , Seeing that gas prices are threw the roof we are trying to find the most safe yet efficient (Cheeper) way would be to get there. with that being said We were wondering if anyone would have any kind of preferred recommendation of travel? Which would be more comfortable/safe for after the surgery?
