Hi CL My name is Diana I too was told by my former dr. that I was to old to go for a tr. and that I could have a baby with chromosomal abnormalities. I went ahead and had the Tr. done in May of 03 with Dr. Berger , I gave birth to my little boy this past may. I had to have a C-Section and my new dr. said she could not see any scar tissue around my tubes. She was really impressed with the job that Dr. Berger did. You will be in very capable hands with Dr. Berger and his wonderful staff. I just turned 40 this month so don't give up it will happen. god Bless

Hi CL ~ I did a bit of research, and this is what I found for FSH levels:
"Blood tests for follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)levels are used to check ovarian reserves and adequate egg function. When these tests are abnormal, fertility decreases and the chance of miscarriage increases. This test is generally used in women over 38 as a guide for IVF, but can be used in younger women to give an estimate of egg reserves. A test done on day 3 of a menstrual cycle can be used as a basic screening test."
I haven't quite figured out what DH, DD, DS mean, so maybe someone else could post and let us know?
Hi, I am 42 and hoping to have my TR in the next 6 months. I found a way to get the money up in 6 weeks, but have to wait for the hubby to come home and discuss it. I think he will agree, he wants a "daddy's girl".
What are these FSH levels that you are talking about? I do not understand some of the initials that is being used on this message board.

gingerd...your message gave me some hope that i am not the only "older" mom out there wanting to have another child. I had my TL in 1989 after my 4th baby. I am now divorced and involved with a younger man with no children. Im unsure of which route to go. would a TR work for someone my age? what are the odds that it would be a normal pregancy. Are my eggs too old? these are questions i have...anyone out there considering the same things? what about IVF? i really want to have a child with this man. thanks, sharilou
Ladies, I apologize, I truly am not usually so emotionally mercurial. I don't know what has gotten into me lately. One moment I'm day dreaming of a baby boy with DHs charming grin, the next so afraid that I'm nearly in tears.
Another 11 days and DH will be home, and a week after that we leave for a vacation in Orlando before heading to CH. Lets hope those roller coasters bring me luck too

Kay...Keep focused and keep your chin up...you're only a month away from that tr!!!! You'll find a lot of drs have to tell you everything negative. But with the advances in technology and meds available today we have a greater ability to conceive healthy babies. You're never to old to follow your dream! Prayers and baby dust!

Thank you Aileen, I'm feeling better about it all today. DH and I have talked about this for two years, earnestly started researching over a year ago, and then he was deployed. In the time he's been gone, I've thought of little else than having the TR when he gets home, and having a baby or babies. Somedays I get greedy I don't want to go through the rest of my life, wondering what if. I want the joy of conceiving again, the joy of holding our baby in my arms, the joy of watching that little soul grow.
Thank you ladies, for being here. I just hope that in some way I am giving back even a part of what you all are giving me.

I am 38 as well. I discussed TR with my OBGYN a few months ago. She ran some extensive bloodwork on me and feels very confident about my age (I will be 39 in October). I had Dr.Berger review my path report a few months ago and my husband who is 48 (He'll be 49 in October) had a semen analysis done by a fertitily clinic in CT and we had Dr.Berger review that as well. Stats are stats. If your looking for the positive in those same stats you will find them. Having a child (getting pregnant) isn't a **** shoot. It's a decision you make earnestly. I think those stats are being used to drive you to fear, turn it around. My next step is inquiring with the office at Chapel Hill to ask when is the very next available appointment time right now? Good luck on your journey, chin up and look toward the sun. The glass is also half full
