I had heard so many woman complain about the mood swings, etc. But I'll be taking my 4th pill tonight and so far Ive only had the night sweats and that was just the first day.

Thank you, I just am feeling a bit depressed right now. I have only one tube and I will be devasted if its blocked. I have been reading all about HSG and some reports call it a tube blow out with women having a greater chance of becoming preggers afterwards. That is great news!! I just dont want some techy doing my testing fast, I want it done at a fertility center where I know they will try harder and I dont think a radiologist knows how to hold a sepculum....LOL I am more afraid of taking clomid, I really do not want to have multiples....

Bella, No it wasnt painful I was put to sleep for the procedure but my dr took lots of pics for me. He went through a small cut in my belly button and I have another small cut below my bikini line(less than an inch) He gave me pian pills to take afterwards but I only took them the first day.

Hi Bella, I had my HSG done in July 2007, both were open:) My insurance does not cover infertility, but depending how it is coded when submitted they may pay, mine did. I am in Florida and mine was about 600 dollars. Wal-mart has clomid on the $4.00 generic program. If you call around to different hospitals or radiologist offices they are pretty good about giving a quote of their charges.

Bella, I'm not sure how much they are where ever you live but when my dr tried to get mine done it was $1400. We couldnt afford that at the time so my dr suggested doing a laparoscopy which my insurance covered. He was able to run dye through my tubes during the lap and discovered my left tube is blocked but my right is open. I started my first round of clomid Saturday. Good luck! Kristie

I had my tubal on 7/07 and I still am not pregnant. I had all the bloodwork, the FSH test, you name it. I went to my GYN today and she suggested the HSG test. I will be 41 in two weeks. I want to be pregnant and have been trying so hard. I want to be put on Clomid but it would be pointless if my one tube is blocked. Does anyone have any idea of how much a HSG cost? How much does Clomid cost? I am losing hope over here. I already have 3 kids; I would really love to have one with my new hubby. Please keep us in your prayers.

Chrissy~ I had 2 HSG's done within 6 months of each other. The first one was done by a radiologist at the local hospital. It was very uncomfortable took about 30 seconds and was told my tubes were blocked. (Be prepared and ask for copies of your films just in case)
My second HSG was done because my OB/GYN didn't think my tubes were in fact open (per Dr. B) This one was performed by a RE who explained everything to us along the way. He prescribes Valium and antibotics for me and DH to prevent infection......I took the Valium about 1 hr before and 1 600mg Ibufrofren drink lost of water to keep hydrated and eat breakfast or lunch. I must add having a professional do my second HSG made a huge difference. And just like Dr. B said both of my tubes are open. I got to see the dye spill from both tubes. I felt over joyed and very excited to TTC.
Good Luck and I hope you have great results. Keep us posted on your results!
seriously have your doctor's office write another prescription saying that it is medically necessary because after my doctor wrote a new one, my insurance covered it. They just won't do it for infertility. They do not need to know that it is for that. The tech will tell you the results either way. My prescription said pelvic pain on it and it was covered.

My ins. will not pay for this, because I checked last week. But the hosp said they would still bill my ins. and I could make payments to them. I pray my tubes are open and hopefully this will be the last time I spend more money on trying to have a baby. I tried IVF last year, then my TR in May. So this is our last shot. Who ever thought that when you think your done having babies and life turns around.--------Crazy LOL

Oh one more thing.... If your insurance does not cover inferitilty, make sure your prescription has a medical reason for having this done. I had some issues and thanks God for calling my insurance company prior to the procedure even though I do not need pre-certification. I do not have that coverage so my doctor had to write another prescription saying that I was having pelvic pain. I did not want them looking for something that wasn't there, so I did tell the tech at the hospital the situation and he understood.
Mine was painless on the right side, but when the dye was injected into the left side it was extrememly uncomfortable. My left tube was blocked so that is where the pain came in. I too took an antibiotic and took two advil for the pain about a hour before. I did spot but they gave me a pantyliner.
Good Luck Girl!!!! We'll be pryaing for you- Wide open tubes!!!!
I also took the antibodic Doxycycline- I'm telling you everyone that came into my room that day had to read DR. Berger's instructions- By the time my Dr. came in he had already heard he too would be getting a copy (lol) but hey he followed it and I felt no pain - and both were open...
Good luck and keep us posted!!! Lots of Love, Becki
