Kay, I have been using FF and it tells me my expected due date. I am just hoping i get a dip or a rise.. the funny thing my temps are doing right now is mind boggling to me. I still think it has something to do with my acupuncture i was doing. But i have not been there in 2 weeks. I heard from one tr sister that her temps were like that when she was pg. so we shall wait and see. AF is due to show Sat or Sun. I did break down to test this am and of course it was bfn. and I know better than test early, but i said ahhh what the heck! I guess we just wait and see! Janice

Mercy, I am so sorry about the negative Your very next step if AF doesnt show in a few days, is to ask your doctor for provera - you will take it for 10 days to bring on your AF. Were you using OPKs? Do you know you ovulated?
Sometimes these things happen - if your body ovulated late, due to stress etc, then AF would be late - but if your body just didnt ovulate at all, then AF may not show up for quite some time until your body decides to get back with the program (sometimes this can take months). I've had this happen a few times in the years since TR - no explanation, AF just goes missing. Its awful when no period and still bfn
Janice, I think its adorable that you've already figured out your due date if you are pg this cycle I so hope this will be it for you!
Ratchet - yes, having sex every day would cover you but, if you happen to be like many of us and do not conceive within a few months, you will want to be able to tell your doctor if you have been ovulating or not if you want to seek additional help. I hope you have a safe trip to CH! Long tubes, and a speedy recovery!
As for me - AF should be here the end of the week - if she shows up. After our last failed cycle, it took 108 days for her to return (I personally think Lupron Depot over suppressed me). We'll see what happens. I'm feeling pretty good though which is def. different from the last time!
Sorry bw came in with BFN for you Mercy. Have you done injectibles/trigger yet? with IUI? That may be a good start to talk to an RE. Just make sure you find the right one for you in case you wish not to go the IVF route right away or ever. Good luck sweetie.
Kay you are always soo helpful and informative. I just HAD to save this page.
Chris i have the same issues sometimes. I even get clumbsy to say the least... and it happens more so often around AF showing, which is a bummer.
Today and yesterday i have been getting a little dizzy, not a lot but i can feel something happening... Maybe just me! Darn cycles!!!!
I went in for my cycle 21 Prog blood test and i have the results. I was 7DPO yesterday. Estragen - 113 Prog 10 My Re's nurse said that is totally perfect for a natural cycle. No meds, just plain ole bd'ing with opks and temping. She also said since i am getting those darn sharp ovary twinges more so now, is because the ovaries are still working hard to release the right amount to sustain a pregnancy.. so i am hopeful. My temps are doing a weird thing.. seems like it is squirming across the screen like a snake.. Never done that before in this range. EVER! GUess there are times when your body does strange things. Could be from Acupuncture the last month or so? I believe my acupuncturist stated she wanted to get my temps level. Hmmmm. weird. I thought my thermometer was doing tricks on me so i rubbed the thermometer on the bed really fst to see if it would rise higher than the temp its been staying at.. and it rose to 107. LOL very funny, Felt like a kid again trying to skip school.
But all in all, if i was to be BFP this time, i would be due on my sons Bday. 12/22... but since i would be scheduled for c-section, i would actually be 2 weeks prior which would be day after my oldest sister's bday.. So excited!

Wow Kay, thanks so much. That helps ALOT! I did go get the Thermometer, and the testing strips, and have ordered more and those too are on the way. So will start testing all this week, even though it appears monday will really be my testing day, However since Im starting this new, dont want to miss it!! Appears to me though if hubby and I just have sex everyday, we wont miss it? Right...hummm now there is a thought! But I suppose I still have the question Am I ovulating? Will test like crazy!

Breath Ratchet Soon enough this will all become old hat to you
Here is a reproduction refresher(the book Taking Charge of your Fertility will give you much more detail, just DO NOT, under any circumstances, follow their dumb advice about using real eggwhites for lubricant!!)
CD 1 - first day of bleeding (not spotting) Many think this is the end of the cycle, but its also the beginning. Even as you are shedding the old lining, new follicles are growing. As the follicles grow, they release estrogen - which thickens the lining of the uterus again. As many as 10 - 15 follicles will start growing, but then one or two will become dominant, and the others will die off.
If you are going to be temping - during this time, your temperatures will stay pretty flat - you take your temp with a digital thermometer every morning BEFORE getting out of bed.
Once they reach the right size (about 20mm) the body releases a chemical called LH, that signals the follicles to rupture, releasing the egg(s). Ovulation predictor kits test for that LH hormone, it is released 12 - 36 hours before the egg is released. In optimum conditions sperm can live up to 5 days, so having sex a few days BEFORE you ovulate could still get you pg - but the egg dies off 24 hours after ovulation if not fertilized. So its really a small window of time that fertilization can occur. This is why its important to test for ovulation, so you know WHEN to have sex!
If you are temping - you will see a temp rise roughly 2 days AFTER ovulation, indicating that your body is producing progesterone. Once you see that temp rise, its probably too late to get pg though.
OK - moving on. After the egg is released, the ruptured follicle becomes a corpus luteum cyst, which produces progesterone. The progesterone converts the uterine lining and keeps it in place for implantation. If the egg implants, it releases HCG (pregnancy hormone that pregnancy tests look for) which tells the corpus luteum cyst to keep producing progesterone - which it will do until around the 12th wk of pregnancy when the placenta takes over. If implantation does NOT occur, then the cyst dies off in about a week, progesterone drops, and your lining starts to shed. Another cycle begins.
For ladies our ages - its quite common to have problems with progesterone - so you may want to get that level checked - it is done 7 days POST ovulation (usually called a cd 21 progesterone test, but only have it done cd 21 if that is 7 days after you have ovulated).
To figure out when you should start testing with OPKs, first figure out how long your cycles usually are - then count back 18 days from when you expect your next period to start, that is when you would start testing. I know, most books say you should ovulate 14 days before your next period, but we arent all textbook - many ladies ovulate anywhere from 10-16 days before their period. Example - a woman with a 28 day cycle could ovulate as early as day 12, or as late as day 18 and still be normal. A woman with a 34 day cycle could ovulate as early as day 18, or as late as day 24. And of course there are women who may ovulate earlier or later than even those examples!
The first few months you may be using quite a few tests as you get used to your bodies rythm. After awhile though, you will learn when your body usually ovulates and can just start testing a day or two before then. Many women also find it helpful to test twice a day, as the LH surge only lasts about 12 hours, so if you only test once a day, you could miss it. Once you get a positive on the opks, you can stop testing for that cycle.
Its recommended that you have sex every other day or every two days from the time your period stops, until just before ovulation. Once you get a positive ovulation predictor test, then you should have sex every day for the next three days.
I hope this helps I remember how new, overwhelming, and exciting the possibilities were when we began our TR journey. I hope that you are pg before all the newness wears off!!

Hello Ladies, Just wanting to day HI to everyone...I still post every now and then. I started this thread after my TR. BE BLESSED TR 2/8/2006 L--- R-6cm 1 and ONLY TUBE BLOCKED
Hope everyone is doing well!! Welcome to all the newcomers! Nice to have lots of new faces around. You'll find a great group of women here that will lift you up when you are sure that no one else understands how you feel, they will laugh with you and support you and most of us have either been there or done there or BOTH!!!
Well AF found me Sunday -- 3 days earlier than what I expected -- she was early this month - only gave me a 27 day cycle -- normally run between 28 - 33 day cycles sometimes -- who knows -- DF says it's because I am worried all the time -
We go Friday the 18th for the HSG to see if my tubes are open or not. We went to a great seminar about IVF last week and have decided after many long talks, reading everything we can get our hands on and just what we feel in our heart -- that if my tubes are open - we're going to try one more round of IUI - and if they aren't open -- we're heading to IVF. I hear my clock BONGing - not the usual tick tock tick tock -- I will be 44 this year and all my tests are great - RE said it was unusual to have such good #s on my tests (due to a woman of my age) gotta luv that phrase - and I respond to Clomid well -- we asked about doing the injectibles and he advised that since I responded so well to the Clomid --not much change in doing the injectibles --
We're gearing up to do 2 rounds of IVF so we will see. I've been trying to stay busy lately just to keep my mind off of it -- My oldest daughter is getting ready to finish out her freshman year at NCState and heading home for the summer so I am excited about her being back at home. Of course her boyfriend is heading to UNC Wilmington in the fall for 2 years -- so we're going thru the sadness of him leaving --- kids!!!!!!! and we want more!!!! What does that say about us???
You ladies take care -- I will check back in with you tomorrow!!
Hugs to you all!!!!!!! Tons of baby dust to all!!! Betty

Welcome newcomers... Angelscircleme? I have felt as you for many years. You are right about not having to apologize for your feelings. Its perfectly naturla to be wanting a child and go after what you want as well. I wish you much luck in your journey in whatever you choose to do. You will find tons of support here. Welcome again.
Hope your weekend went well ladies. Mine was pleasant. I have been keeping my god daughter every weekend. Long story but..... DH thinks keeping her for good is the mother's responsibility but her mom wants me to take her, so the info I had a while back about taking custody of her is on the back burner for now. Until DH comes around. So for now, i care for her when i can. When her mom has a problem with her I come running. hehehehehee. Support is good right? She is 8 and needs so much that she is lacking. Well 7DPO and had called my Re to call in some blood work for this cycle. My temps are running weird. I am thinking either my thermometer is getting old or maybe my body is not producing enough for my temp to rise higher than normal. But who knows. I am scrutinizing this too much i guess. We shall see. I just dont want to miss any chance of implantation. This is my second cycle after Lap/Recann. I just want it to happen already!
I took a hpt w/ fmu and I got a bfn. This was yesterday. I am feeling a little sick to my stomach and cramping a bit like I do during AF's past visits... but nothing.
Any comments of suggestions.
Hope all is well w/ everyone... I'm still reading the 40 and over thread trying to get to know each of you.
