Hi everyone, I\'m 40, and have 2 kids 18 and 22, I am awaiting my TR on the 18th, 11days!! I have done alot of reading and research, as well as read this board daily. The only thing I really have questions about are the testing materials, when, where and how. I assume they are not cheap, so where to start, when to test, I\'m sure reading the box I will learn how. I see there are ovulating test and then pregnancy test, I wasn\'t really going to do any of that, but after reading so much, I realize for safety, that it is a must. So out of all the reading I can clearly say I get DAY 1 of my period is Day 1, what is next after that? When is testing to c if your Ovulating start? All of this is SO confusing for me, is there anywhere out there that spells it out Clearly for people like me? Need a one on one thing here.....Help

Emmie, I am so glad you are getting better - hopefully they get the bite corrected soon (it took a few visits to get my one crown right too!) and that your calf heals quickly!

Michele - there are days that I spend in a total pity party, trust me! I so hope everytime I sign into the board that I'll see good news from you! I'll continue hoping and keeping everything crossed for all of you ladies.

I also secretly hope, that you are right, and we have triplets our next cycle [Smile] DH and I had wanted three children, so if that miracle happened, I'd be done with this roller coaster!

Angelscircleme - welcome! You'll catch on to most of the language pretty quickly - and to help, there is a button near the bottom of the page that says "Abbreviations" click on that, and it'll take you to a cheat sheet [Smile] I do not think you are selfish at all in wanting a child and hope that all goes well for you.

Have a great week ladies! Pray for me - the DDs want to go to SnoWorld!!

Hi, I have been sitting back reading this here and there ... trying to catch on to all the secret language going on here (lol). I think I've got most of it but there should be a list on the side of the page or something [Smile] I will be 41 in August, single and want a child. My doctor told me it was 'empty nest' syndrome ... ha ha ha ... my nest is not empty ... my kids are still here!! (18 and 20 y/o) I can't explain the desire but it's there and I just know in my heart I will meet someone soon who shares my desire. My OBGYN is very supportive and tells me the best thing I can do is relax and let life happen ... don't 'expect' it to happen. I didn't understand that at first but I truely get it now and my outlook is so much more relaxed and clearer. I must sound pretty selfish being single and wanting another child but I won't apologize for it ... it is what it is. I was hoping to have my surgery this month but finances didn't allow it. I am now shooting for August as I will be in NC for a convention ... I am taking it as a sign that it is meant to be. I want to thank all of you for posting and continuing to give me hope that this will work out. Good luck and love to all ...

Hi All,

Sorry Janice I just did not feel like posting as I am feeling yuk.

Kay thanks, yes the tooth was seen to again. The treatment took over an hour. I was finally able to be anaesthesized properly and did not feel anything. It was a special heavy anaesthtic (horse one my son said haha). However I had to go back again today to adjust the bite. It is still hurting like mad but have hope it will go away. Man I never had a desire to get to know my dentist so well. To top the misery I pulled a tendon in my calf at my last exercise class and found it difficult to walk but it is luckily clearing up. I hope this is it for now and I feel I am due some good news soon...

I am cd 14 or so, last AF was weird so not too sure where I am now.

Well I have ordered a chinese as I did not feel like cooking and it is due any minute, so love you but leave you.

Hi Janice,

I have to apologize. I have been reading every day however not posting. I guess for me, while I am so exicited for our BFP, it does get to be a bit of a bummer after a while. The ONLY option we see as viable is donor egg and we just cannot afford it.

Kay - I read how helpful & informative you are, your posts just make me weep. No matter what you are one of the most wonderful people I have ever truly meet. You are the little engine that could. You have faced so many odds and you keep going. You should be the poster child for all of us! I will not be surprised to find out that you have triplets coming your way this next time around!

Chris, Anita, Linda - my hearts are with you all!

To all our newbe's a quick WOOHOO from me to you.

Its Thursday Ladies!! But my "friday" as we leave early tomorrow for a long weekend in Paris. It will be my Soldier daughter's first time visiting the city, and she is so excited! I'm looking fwd to getting away, and I always love being on the trains. We are taking the high speed train, so only a 4 hour ride, but it'll still be nice.

I hope everyone is doing well - Anita, Linda, I hope those little beans are growing strong [Smile]

Emmie, I hope your tooth has been seen to.

To Everyone else, have a wonderful weekend!!

Mercy - truly you need to have a sit down with your doctor on her lack of support - its not too early to make an appointment with an RE - you'll need to have some bloodwork done on cd 3 anyway.

Be FIRM!! Tell them you want to try non invasive treatments first - and will decide on IVF later on. Begin with getting your FSH and estrogen levels tested on cd 3. You may be waiting too late to test for ovulation. You should begin testing cd 8 and continue through positive OPK. How long are your cycles? You can generally expect to ovulate 10-16 days BEFORE your next period is due, not necessarily after you've started. (if you have 24 day cycles - you can expect to ovulate cd 8-10; if its later, then you may have a luteal phase deficiency. If you have 30 day cycles, you could expect to ovulate cd 14-20 - which is a big difference~! You could easily just be missing your fertile time.

If you do decide to be more agressive (and at our ages - its advisable to not just wait) Clomid is usually the first step in fertility treatments - its a pill, usually started at 1 a day for 5 days - either cycle days 3-7 or 5-9. Make sure you insist on monitoring (most docs will scoff, and try to say its not necessary - dont listen to them!) You will want an u/s to check for cysts cd 3 or 4, and a follicle and lining check around cd 10, (to make sure you are responding, and that its not causing your lining to be too thin for an embryo to implant, AND the monitoring needs to be done every cycle on the medication!) and your progesterone level checked 7dpo. If clomid doesnt do the trick, you could move on to injections (you give these to yourself daily and are closely monitored for follicle growth/hormone levels). There is also IUI usually done in conjunction with either clomid or injections.

There is quite a bit you can do BEFORE moving on to IVF. You just have to decide what you are willing to do- and find doctors that will support those choices. If the doc doesnt want to work with you - fire him/her - and find one who will.

Good luck!

We do all of our testing tomorrow, we are on pins and needles, then we have to wait 3 days till all those results come in, That in itself seems like a life time, heck I\'m 40, don\'t feel like I want to waste 3 days [Wink] Any who, we are so excited, but to tell you and I\'m not sure why, but getting through the testing part scares us to death [Confused] , its alot to soak in. Since finding my sole-mate [Big Grin] I do believe in miracles, And I want baby dust too [Big Grin] I really like that, heck been reading up on this site alot, took awhile to get to understand all the abbreviations, but I got it! [Wink] I too want the same thing, and I\'m thrilled to see I\'m not alone. Here is baby dust for you all too [Love] If all passes tomorrow, and I pray daily it does, I\'m a wreck! Then hopefully I go in for surgery 18th of this month. [Big Grin] v
