Dear Sandy,
You can always have your blood checked for the pregnancy hormone HCG. If the test is negative then your physician may want to give you a medication to start your period. You can also have a FSH level checked to see if it is elevated. Let me know how things go for you.

I am 45 and had my reversal surgery with Dr. Berger in 2003. A HSG showed my tubes open (but short). I have had my period regularly, but have been 4 or 5 days late in recent months. This month it is 17 days late so far. I took a pregnancy test three days ago and it was negative.
My question is, when should I stop wondering if I am pregnant when I miss a period at age 45? Can the doctor tell me anything if I go to see her? Should I ask for a blood pregnancy test? It is so hard to know.
