That's what my Fertility doc here in Dallas said too, Tonja! The total price was going to be around $15,000 with a 4-6 hour surgery (laproscopic) and 4-6 weeks for healing he said. Not with Dr. B available...haha, no thanks!!!

I live in California, and had a consult with a DR here for TR. We were ready in 2002 except for the $20,000. I was working hard and we only could muster up about $6,000. I got on the net and research all the time. I happened across Dr. Berger's web site and called got all my information together, and scheduled for the surgery with in a month I think. I never saw the video until after, and I never knew much about Dr. Berger until after my TR. Although I felt very comfortable and based on previous info from California consult and the info on Dr. Berger's Web site. I was able to compare and choose. My biggest was the length of surgery time and time to recoup. The California DR said 4 to 6 hour surgery AUGHHHHHH!!!!!

The video, his statistics, this website, the amazing devotion of his staff, and the price, not necessarily in that order! I had been investigating TR since the day after my TL in 2002. I found Dr. B that day. The clincher for us was probably the video. See, my DF and I both work in the operating room. I'm a nurse, he's a scrub tech, so we watched the video as medical professionals as well as potential patients. We were both thoroughly impressed with his surgical skill and appreciated his explanations for why he was doing things the way he was (minimizing tissue trauma to decrease postop pain, etc). The website is amazing. Nobody else out there has a forum for their patients to be in contact the way Dr. B does. How's that for confidence in your procedure? He encourages our interaction. Not only that, through this forum he and his staff (do you guys EVER take a day off??) are available to us 24/7. As I've said before, I hope that Dr. B has a protege, because the world needs someone to carry on his legacy should he (GOD FORBID) decide to retire someday. I have worked for and with A LOT of doctors over the years and have only met ONE other who has the level of commitment to his patients that Dr. Berger and his staff have. Dr. B, if you ever decide to open a West Coast branch you have a nurse and scrub tech ready, willing and able to come to work for you! Laurie TL 6/7/02 TR 1/25/05 R 5.0 L 5.25 TTC cycle #2

I found out he was on Good Morning America and also they showed his video of the surgery on another channel. That got me investigating, checked the credentials and talked to them. And less than six months I was there and I don't regret it at all!!! Lowie

I had done a search on the web a few years prior to finding Dr. Berger. I was just beginning to regret my TL. I was not impressed with statistics, and nothing sounded positive enough to work. I gave up for a while and then researched adoption. I was very close to adopting two little girls when things went wrong and we were informed they wouldn't be ours. I was desperate. So I decided to research TR again. Dr. B's site was the first I found. I had a feeling he was the one, but I kept searching because I wanted to check out all my options, but nothing compared. So I emailed them, and someone replied to me that night. By the next day-they were reviewing my medical records. How is that for service??? I paid money to do a physicians check (can't remember what it was called), but it confirmed that Dr. B. was a good trustworthy Dr. I got the video tape, and took it to my family Dr., who was very impressed with Dr. B. He said if he was going to have surgery, he would want someone who was as knowledgeable the surgery and as precise as Dr. B. We live in NJ and were flying to NC a month and a half later. The whole experience was wonderfully amazing. Everyone at Chapel Hill were so nice! Not like the experiences I have had in other hospitals. The supportive women on the message boards really helped me through everything. It was nice that Dr. B keeps his patients connected this way. I would have been skeptical about traveling to a doctor who didn't want his patients to know each other-or have the opportunity to discuss his work. I had the TR on 8/26/02 and our little boy Brody was born on 9/15/03. I am now 12 weeks pg with TR baby #2 due 9/9/05. The decision was very clear for me, and I know I made the right one for our family. I followed my instincts, but did my homework to be sure.

I found his web page and I was impressed with it, so I ordered the video and I like it. We also like the fact that this is all he does. The price was nice too.

I chose Dr.B due to his many years of experience and also to the fact that that is all he does. The more of anything you do the better you have to be at it! After the surgery I feel confident that I made the right choice. Good luck ladies!

The staff was so wonderful when I talked to them. I had worked in healthcare before and I had never encountered a staff who truly cared about their patients before. When I actually got to sit down and meet Dr. Berger at my consultation, I knew I made the right decision.

That was something everyone we knew was concerned with. We are in Alabama and Dr. Berger is in North Carolina. That was a huge step for us and anyone that has never met a doctor that is gonna be doing major sugery on you. I just knew he was the one for us. I think it is like anything else...you'll just have that gut feeling.

The website, the website, the website! Everything about this website screams HIGH CLASS!
It is slick, informative, and very personal. I was thoroughly impressed and just couldn't tear myself away from it. I checked out some other Dr.'s ...but kept coming back here all the while.
Finally, I was on my way out of town a week or so ago and realized that with the Dr.'s that I had looked at, talked to, seen websites for, etc., Dr. Berger was the only one that I feel 150% comfortable with. So I scheduled right after that epiphany!
Funny too cause I have always been a face to face person when it comes to my healthcare providers after having been in the healthcare industry in the past. For me to choose a Dr. based on his website and the staffs "over the phone" presentation is unheard of...yet here I am! Ready and WILLING to go into surgery with Dr.s and nurses I have never met!
I love it! Can't wait to meet everyone!!!

My cousin used Dr. Berger and had a baby so that convinced me he must know what he's doing. Plus, all of the testimonies and the great care that the Nurses give you on the phone......every little question.
Good Luck, Tammy Macsrus5@wmconnect.com (if you have questions)
