I have read so many comments on this board about PTLS and just don't get it. Since my TL in '96 my PMS symptoms have lessened and AF shortened from 7 to 4 - 5 days. Now I only get cramps on the first day of AF and Sore BB's for about 5 days before she shows her ugly head. Could it be possible that after TR I will be miserable again? Gosh I sure hope not! I love these short AF visits.

My headaches went away, and they used to be severe. That was something I didn't even realize until I notice that a bottle of Advil last forever now. I used to go through one every 3-4 weeks. Cramps too are better, and much better after I had the polyp removed as well. I'm back to my 20 something self, not bad for being 38.
I suffered with PTLS for ten years and had two d&c's that still didn't help with the symptoms. The first month after my TR we all noticed a difference in my PMS symptoms. Each month there after I had less and less symptoms. It's been three years since my TR and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Berger for giving me my normal quality of life back. All PTLS are gone and my cycles are as regular and normal as they were before the TL. Good Luck to you! Michele

Oh boy after reading some of the messages, it sounds like if I'm seeing myself. I know 1-2 weeks before my mens I get the same way out of control, mean, very touchy, my honey tells me it's ok you are fine, he is so patient w/me & he does notice what time of the month it is before I due at times... but the thing is I try hard not to be like that but at times it over comes me. How Great if that can be out the window it will also be a Blessing. This web is so Outstanding I can't not explain in words how it has helped me and by reading the Messages that you all share it has answered some of my questions, I want to thank everyone for sharing. My very best to all and to CHAPEL HILL I'M VERY GREATFUL ...

Thanks for the kind words. I truely feel as if the TR was a miracle for me. I had my TL 3 months after giving birth to my fourth child. within one month I noticed chnges in sexuality. Severe mood swings,( had never had before. With in 3 months I lost completely the ability to acheive climax during intercourse or manual stimulation, with in 4-5 months lost all lubrication and sex drive. I finally went on the internet to research and dicovered sites re: PTS. knew this was my problem. I also was linked to DR. Bergers site. All the people here said this would not help, but I knew it was my only chance. I was on testosterone, progesterone, and the month before my surgery my estrogen had dropped to almost nothing. With in three days of my surgery, I was awakened by an erotic dream, and actually climaxed in my sleep with no stimulation. I woke up thinking holy cow I am goig to be okay. Every month since then has been better and as I said in my testimonial, I am now testing normal and my blood work last week, 2 months without any hormones are normal. I wish more women knew how much better their symptoms could be if they could be helped by Dr. Bergers procedure . Good luck and good hormones to you all.Lisa

Lisa, I hope you are as blessed as I have been. The very first cycle we noticed the absence of my rioting mood swings, and no migraine to indicate I was getting ready to start. My periods have gradually shortened from the 8-9 days down to 3 sometimes 4 days and I have very little to no cramping. After having been through PTLS the occaisional cramps don't really slow me down. Good Luck to you! Michele
I feel you and I are the same person. I just had my TR on 12.27.04. I am hoping that it gets better after a few AF's. My first AF has lasted 6 days today. So for it has been better then before the tr.

Hi Ladies, I suffered with PTLS for 10 years and it was pure hell. I did eventually find a doctor who believed the PTLS and told me the only thing she could do was medicate me to make me more comfortable. I had migraines, heavy and long menstrual flow with cramps so bad all I wanted to do was stay in a fetal position with a heating pad. Nausea, bloating, horrible mood swings, no sex drive, etc. The very first month after the TR surgery we noticed a significant difference. Within four cycles all PMS and PTLS symptoms were completely gone, my sex drive has returned to normal and I have had excellent health since the surgery. My family and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Berger for giving me my quality of life back. It's been almost three years since the reversal and we thank Dr. Berger each month for making me healthy again. Good Luck to you and I hope the TR surgery will be a success and return your health to you. Michele

Steph, I'm with you, I got the cyclic headaches from my first period after TL in 92, right up through AF the week before TR, since then, not a single headache! They were just awful, it'd hit the day before AF started, and not end til she left, and nothing, NOTHING would ease them!
My periods were lasting 7-9 days heavy flow after TL, and now, only two days heavy and 2/3 days spotting, and only light cramping. Its amazing!!
The only thing changed for the worst? is that now I get sore bbs where I didnt have them before. Thats OK though. Definately worth the sore chest to get rid of everything else.

My favorite part of having the TR, besides the chance to give DH a child, is the fact that I don't get migraine headaches with AF anymore. I have gotten a migraine every month for the last 7 years, but after TR, not a single one!!! I have been hospitalized for the migraine pain, put on morphine, told I was imagining it, tried every rx in the world. Nothing helped. I have had CAT scans, eye exams, neurological workups, you name it. I have lost a job due to the migraines (nobody believes you when you have one). I think the TR was worth every penny I spent to get rid of the migrines.

I am interested in TR, after reading this stuff about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, I am so upset, I had my TL done about 7 yrs ago and have been miserable since. I have been on antidepression meds. under went exploritoy surgery, and nothing helped. Here I was thinking I was crazy and trying everything to fix "myself" I feel like I have lost so many years because of TL. Now I want the TR more than anything, even if it does not bring us a baby. Just to be 'Myself" again will be worth it!

Hi, I have posted this several times but I want to repeat it for you. I had a TL in 1995. After the TL I had horrible cramping during AF and my periods were heavier. I had to take a lot of ibuprofen and even missed days from work because I was in so much pain. Emotionally , I developed PMS. I wasn't even putting the 2 together. I just thought I was getting older and it was my turn for PMS. For the 2 weeks before my period I had anger problems. I was very moody and my husband and I argued all the time. I had even sought help from a counselor thinking I might have a mental illness or depression, but I would get better and forget about making the appt. I went to my OB/GYN and asked her about any pills I could take for PMS. She said to mark on the calendar my symptoms for each day. Chart that for 3 months and get back with her. A pattern appeared. Almost exactly 2 weeks before my period would start I would turn into "Dr. Jekyll." I felt "separated" from myself and couldn't focus properly. Everything got exaggerated in my mind. I had to FIX problems that didn't even exist. I also started growing black hair around my areola. I had to tweeze my breasts!!! My marriage to my second DH almost ended in April of last year because of these arguments. I was very mean and picked at him for everything. But, he started noticing the pattern too. He said as soon as I started I turned into my "old sweet self" again. Well, I started taking over the counter premsyn to help with the mood swings, but they made me feel drugged up and zombie-ish. I thought I was losing my mind!! On a side note, my husband and I wanted a child together. I really wanted a baby. After the premsyn helped with the arguments we started talking about getting my tubes reversed. And, we did. February 12th of this year my whole life changed and I didn't even know it would happen. I told Dr Berger about the pain on my right side during my periods and that an OB/GYN told me I might have endometriosis and needed a hysterectomy, but I refused because I had normal periods and pain only during my period. After the surgery, Dr Berger told me that I had a healthy uterus and ovaries with full signs of ovulation on both sides. He said the fallope ring on my right tube was causing the pain during my period and I should be better. Just to wait and see after my first period. I have had ZERO pain during my periods now. The hair on my breasts aren't there anymore, I do not have the mood swings and anger problems like before my TR. I do not have PMS!! I have my life back! If I never have a baby, the surgery was worth every penny. I am in control of me now, not a hormone imbalance and cycle changes.
Sorry this is so long, but I really love to share the miracle that has happened to me since my TR,

Before TR I was prone to severe depression/PMS, and I had hot flashes before my period (I'm only 37, I'm not near menopause) which I did not have before TL. After TR (9/27/02), I don't get hot flashes, and my PMS isn't anywhere near as severe. But it hasn't been that long since I had TR, so I can't say for sure that TR is what caused these symptoms to go away (although, if it walks like a duck...I think TR probably did).
