Tanya, thanks! You are so right. I have given my sister my mother in laws number, but we recently had a death in the family, our uncle was only 72, he passed last Thurs and the funeral was Wednesday. So with all that my side of the family has been there to help out my aunt and her family as much as they could. But now that that has come and gone I'll just let my sister know she can call my MIL any time to get more information about planning the whole thing. I just hope she doesn't just bluntly say "I told Karen to go ahead and have 2 separate showers" I don' think she would or at least I hope she wouldn't. Thanks Again Tanya!

Karen - What a tough situation indeed. I hope I say this and it comes across right - it's so hard when your typing things on a board, if that makes sense.
First your right. Your MIL is taking it too personally IMHO. It sounds like your SIL is trying to be helpful in finding a nice alternative to a smaller hous. I've been to showers personally in homes and halls and the halls are the best hands down. Plenty of room to mingle, have a nice spread out buffet table and plenty of room to sit down. Houses are great for smaller gatherings but even holiday dinners can get crowded quick, so I think the hall is probably the better option and MIL is just getting her little feelings hurt.
On the other hand - I think you need to let your SIL and MIL sort it out. Your suppose to be the honored guest (your actually carrying the most honored guest incognito! ) and you shouldn't have any stress to the planning or organizing at all. Instead your stressing your MIL's feelings and trying to find a way to work it all out and that is THEIR job. Offer their numbers to each other and let them sort it out.
Finally, it sounds like you've got a family that all wants to do something special for you, and if your closer with your in-laws that your family and it's your in-laws first grandbaby and you did mention she had the idea for the shower first so it might be best to give MIL her way if you think that it will resolve her being so upset.
I hope they get it all worked out. It's a tough situation for sure...

Things here are goin' as good as can be expected. Baby is growing, feeling her is so much easier now for everyone to enjoy! She is now makin' my belly lurch here and there! You can even feel her little limbs, feet or hands maybe even elbows, those hard little knots; I love feeling those because I can just imagine actually touching her! I am so anxious to meet her. Only 3 more weeks of my 2nd trimester I can't hardly wait to be in the middle or towards the end of my 3rd!!!

Hey Ladies... since we're all here for some support, I have a dilema, maybe you guys can help me out in figuring it out or dealing with it.
So his is DH first child. DMIL, has been very excited, I even invited her to join us at our U/S appt to find out if we were having a girl or boy. She was very excited. We then went shopping after finding out it was a girl.
She was the first one to mention anything about having a baby shower. So needless to say because it can get kind of spendy, I mentioned that if my sister mentions anything that I will definitely have her help DMIL out. Well DSIN (my brother's wife) had mentioned helping before my sister. Anyways finally my sister mentioned helping and asking ?s like where and when. So I told her I have no idea yet, I'll find out and let you know. I did tell both my sister and SIL that I didn't want to have it here at my house because its not as open like my sister's home, he at that time mentioned reserving a banquet room at the restaurant she works at, I told her to go ahead and find out how much to reserve it and how much for the food.. a couple days later I told DMIL that my sister and SIL would be willing to help out, she said it was great and the more help the better. I then asked where and when... she said my house (like that was a stupid ?, although she lives in a town home and LR isn't that spacious) so I told her politely that I already had at least 26 people on an invite list I had just started. She replied to me that we'd just have to rearrange chairs to MAKE everyone fit. Easter Sunday we were at my MIL place and I mentioned to her that I had given my sister her # so they can plan more together. She then made sighs (although she was more than welcoming to the help) and said that "she'll probably just plan the whole thing" "she's just the dominant type of person". I left that entire conversation alone and said no she won't she's just here to help you which you said was fine. So now a day has passed an my sister finds out that she can have the banquet room for free, however long she needs it and we can bring in outside food (normally reserving a banquet room at a restaurant you have to order their food right); what a great deal right! So I told DH, right away he said WOW that's a great deal! You need to tell my mom that right away. So the next day I did. I was on the phone with her and told her "guess what I told my sister to go ahead and find out about reserving the banquet room at work, that was before you (mil) had said you were having it at your place, she (my sis) can get it for free, however long and we can bring our own food." well MIL was on her way to go put in job apps for a second job and head to a dr appt. so she had to get off the phone. I called her back to check on her and see how dr appt went and I could tell something was wrong... so I asked and she said, "well you know, I don't know how to say this but you know I just think your family don't want to have the baby shower at my place" ME="No its not that at all, its just I didn't know from the get go and so I thought it'd be fine" She carried on to say that she really did think it was because of that and that maybe I should just have them plan their own and she would plan hers. Because she likes to plan things and she didn't think they liked the idea of her planning it. NOT THE ISSUE AT ALL!! Ugh! I haven't talked to her since Tuesday, when it all came about and she usually calls us for anniversaries (which was yesterday) and never did. What do you ladies think I should do??
Sorry, this is really pathetic and I'm sorry. I just don't want to say anything to my side of the family because no one either side had done anything wrong except my MIL taking it too personal!! And obviously I don't want to make MIL any more mad than I already have; the thing is I'm closer to my in laws then my own family.

Hello girls! I had a few minutes to update and wanted to stop in and say hello. I had a nice easter with my kids and family. Went to both my parents and mil and had a nice time at both places. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he upped my pills again to two a day. I am really having to keep a close eye on it now. I have had two episodes of it going too low and they were really scary, especially with a two year old and watching a 9 month old for my sil. I have asked her to find a new sitter for almost a month now but she still hasn't and says she is trying but not having any luck. I don't want her to lose her job but I can't take it much longer. They cut her working days from 245 to 220 thru the board of education and now she cant afford to put him in day care. Sorry for griping but I cant gripe to dh because he doesn't want the conflict with her. I don't either but I need to rest up and get my house ready for the new baby. I got both of my older boys closets cleaned out this week and painted/redecorated their rooms and shampooed the carpets. Now I have to do the baby's and Isaiah's room and I will be done, but I am running out of time. Oh well, nesting instinct what can I say. Take care all and I will check in soon Shirley

Athena, he is a big boy already! Congrats on a job well done! Sounds like things are moving along. I am so glad things are ok.
Karen, I am with you ont he rain adn wanting spring weather... I am so tired of the chill and rain, I want warm sun and to sleep with my windows open! I can still do kegels when I think about them.. but that is not too often.. you keep on trying though!
Kira, sounds like a good drs appointment.
I cant wait to see how big the babies are at our next appointment, next tuesday. They seem to have dropped a little bit, but nothing else really going on. It is getting harder to move though!

Athena - I hope you hang in there! Get lots of rest if your able. Another three weeks or so would be great but he's already a nice weight so hopefully if he decides to arrive early then he's still going to be nice and healthy!
Karen - I can't do Kegel's at all. It's very uncomfortable when I try as well. I know it's hard not to worry about things going wrong but try to keep positive. ((HUGS))
Hope everyone is great. Hard to believe I'm almost 32 weeks - and we are all getting closer to having these miracles. Time has really FLOWN by on this thread. I'm so excited to start seeing some baby pictures!

Hi everyone.. Well just a quick update and I am going to go take a nap...
I wnet to the DR today. 33 weeks going on 34. BP is up 137/72. dr said not alarming yet but I b etter bring it down in two weeks... Or see her if any issues before then... No Protein in urine.> YEAH...
I am measuring right on at 33 weeks and had a gain of 3 lbs... So 16 total now..
Garrett is already head down and very low and ready... She said I was about 2cm dilated and 40 % effacted. She said does not seem like I will go into labor today but not sure I will make it all the way to May 2nd... But we will see...
Otherwise.. All looked ok and I am still hanging around... Oh she estimates Garrett between 4.5 and 5 lbs already.> Chunky thing

Hi ladies I had my us yesterday baby looks goog weight about 12 oz I told my son with me he is six and of course he thought he new everything I like him pick her middle name and he picked Kaylin. So the middle name has been change to "Kaylin "
Any big plans for Spring Break? I'm just watchin kids. I was hoping the weather would warm up but we have rain through tomorrow and its gonna be in the highs of 51 for today and go to 47 tomorrow. Ughh! Rain Rain Go Away & Just don't come back. It's not even April yet and I'm already not enjoying these rainy days! With the weather being the way it is, and allergy season right here, I think my allergies are starting to act up! Last time I felt like this it lasted well over a week!!
Today, I am 24 weeks and 2 days, it seems to be slowing down for me. Not sure if its just the stayin home, not goin outside much (because of the weather) but it really does seem to have slowed down. Not sure why but I've been having hmm whats the word I'm looking for.....scared, nervous I'm not sure about having the baby early. She just seems to be so low, I'll get my braxton hicks contractions a few times a day (nothing that has been alarming to me in the past)and sometimes I feel her pretty close to my rib cage so. I think I'm not quite done being so dang paranoid. The other morning though I did have 3 little what I thought were braxton hicks contractions like one after the other, I was still in bed so I just rubbed my belly and tried to relax and then that was it. That was a first. They didn't last long they were all 3 pretty short ones. Being I've never went into actual labor, I guess I'm still a bit clueless. 1st one induced then ended up with c-sec, 2nd one was scheduled c-section. She is quite active though, so no worries about her not being ok...Since I've expressed my desire to want a VBAC, I've been working on doing Kegel's and yesterday I tried to stop goin' but when I did, I had a pain in my lower abdomen and I couldn't even stop goin' completely. The pain was only there when I tried stoping. No discomfort in goin, I just got that pain pretty close to c-sec/TR scar. HMMM??? Any advice or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated! Sorry I'm so clueless.... you'd think this was my first time going through a pregnancy!

Hello all how was everyone's easter weekend? We had a great time with the family. Spring break here as well. My DD & I will be going out of town to visit my cousin for a few days,will miss my DH but he can't get away from work to join us. It is a sunny day today so I think I'll put the housework on the back burner & go outside & enjoy the sun while its here. Kelli I'm right behind you with our due date 07-08-08 can't wait but still have alot to do. Have a great day everyone!!!

Good morning all! Hope everyone had a great Easter.. we did.
Things are moving faster now... we figured we have a MAX of 12 weekends before the babies are born if I go full term for twins at 38 weeks... kinda puts things in perspective.. we have TONS to do before then!
