Yes it is good information but I have to agree with Stephanie..... find yourselves a doctor that won't fight you on early pregnancy monitoring. If they are not doing what you need and want now, do you want to trust them for 9 months?? D02bkj I can understand your situation w/o having a BFP yet.

I think this is great info to have as a back up.. and of course just as Stephanie RN stated...making SURE that doc is supportive BEFORE TR is the key to having a successful relationship AFTER TR, as I have posted many many times in the waiting room.

I got on line and found where I could get the HCG labs done for $47.99 with a lab close to me. My doctors office is often very busy and hard to get right in. I could switch doctors but my kids go there also and with my insurance, switching doctors is not that easy. To go see ob/gyn I have to see PCP first to get prior approval from Ins. Its a big hassle some times but they pay a 100% of pretty much everything. Even things they don't normally cover if your doctor faxes them a good reason for needing it usually they will cover it. Anyway, thats why for me having this to fall back on is a good idea.

oh, and if some of you are wondering if I am not sure of pregnancy or not, why am I testing....I've taken 4 or 5 PT, and all have been negative, but I remembered with my son, all came back negative as well, up until I went to the DR to find out what was going on if not pregnant. 7 months later, there he was! I would rather pay for blood test, than risk waiting another week or so, and end up w/ losing a tube if eptopic.

I ordered a QUAN blood test online yesterday, and went in today at 10am. I got mine for $60., and also close by to me. Results should be back no later than tomorrow morning. I chose the QUAN instead of QUAL, so that if I am in fact pregnant (fingers crossed!), then I'll have my 1st #s already. My Dr did give me prescription after first wanting me to wait a little longer, but this was easier for me. Just her saying wait a little longer was enough for me to go, "huh". I am 19dpo, and on cd36. My cycle has been a little screwy since Sept, but haven't hit 36 days before, and I didn't want to chance being positive, and waiting and possibly eptoptic. .

My hope is that many of our patients do not have to order their own lab work. I would suggest finding a doctor who knows that you have had a TR and is on board with the early pregnancy monitoring. I would also make sure that you are an established patient before you start TTC so when you need lab work you would just be able to call and get an appointment right away. We do realize that some patients have had problems in the past and understand your frustration. My suggestion again, is to see your MD, explain your desires and goals, and make sure they are on board. If you don't feel that they supportive then finding another physician who is may make things a lot less stressful for you when you do get your BFP. All of us here at CHTRC are happy to speak to your doctor's office in order to help expedite the testing and/or help explain the need for the early pregnancy monitoring.

Karen Some say they will do what is necessary and then when you get the bfp they change their tune. Then you are stuck running around like a chicken with their head cut off trying to find a dr. that will get you numbers quickly. It happened to me and a lot of others, so it is good info, just in case.

Hi, This might be a help to those of you who have doctors who won't 'get with the program' and order your HCG tests when you need them. This was a concern for me because I have read about dr's who said they would follow Dr. Berger's pregnancy protocol and then when the time came they said the tests weren't necessary. I don't want to risk my life because a dr won't listen so I did a little research and found that you can order your own HCG test without a dr's order. Just Google "direct-to-consumer medical testing service" and there are several labs that will let you pay online, go to a local lab for the draw and you have your results within 48 hours. I found one for as low as $79. Then you can go to your dr. for your ultrasound at the appropriate time. This is a comfort that there is a back-up plan available and no need to wait for an appointment or argue the point. Baby dust to everyone!
