I was bored and did a little research. Here are some things I found you may or may not know. Take it for what you will as I am not a doctor.HTH's
FOODS THAT PROMOTE FERTILITY
Organic foods,Whole wheat,Fruits and Vegetables,as these can all help increase a women's chances of becoming PG. That's b/c these food contain lots of vitamins and minerals, which are vital to both conception as well as healthy fetal development.
Protein Sources, such as lean meats and poultry,as these help maintain healthy levels of Iron.
Omega-3 fatty acids, which has been proven to be beneficial for fetal development.
Fiber, such as whole grains will decrease your chances of gestational diabetes, while promoting over all body health.
Folic Acid, is an important nutrient both before and during pregnancy, as it can help to prevent neurological and spinal defects.
Calcium,Vitamins B,C and E, and Zinc. It is good to look for these when choosing a multi vitamin. Zinc helps cell division in the development of the fetus, while lack of Zinc can decrease the production of healthy eggs prior to conception. In fact, Zinc is the only mineral conclusively shown to increase fertility rates.
A high fluid intake is also important when TTC. A women TTC should be sure to drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.
FOODS TO AVOID WHEN TRYING TO CONCEIVE
Preservatives and other chemicals, such as artificial sweeteners, should be avoided because they affect blood sugar levels and hormonal balance.
Diet Soda, should be avoided, as it contains aspartame.
Caffeine should be limited, especially if your having trouble conceiving, or while undergoing IVF. Caffeine constricts blood vessels, which reduces blood flow to the uterus and prevents eggs from attaching to the uterine wall.
Refined Carbs, such as those found in pastries, white bread, pasta should be limited. These foods lack nutrients, which are important for providing a rich nutrient base to a potential fetus.
Soybeans are not recommended, as they contain a component that mimics estrogen, which can increase the length of menstrual cycles. Soy also lowers two hormones necessary for ovulation, LH an FSH.
Eating a lot of meat is also not recommended. This is because meat raises the body's ammonia levels, which can inhibit the implantation of the egg in the uterus.
Finally, it is also recommended that women avoid drinking alcohol, illicit drugs and smoking.
