Ladies I got AF last night! I'm actually not sad at all-of course, a BFP would have been MORE than too much happiness to take, but what can I expect when we TRIED to avoid pg?
I'm very happy because this is the same time frame that would have me bleeding very badly (I've had to go to urgent care for provera injections from bad bleeding post TL with no "reasons" found) and in LARGE pain...couple that with my missing migraines, and I am a thankful woman!
I think my symptoms were aggravated PMS symptoms...Normally I know my cycles quite well and I have always gotten my BFP (5 times) before AF is due. So, this was way premature for me to get excited!
You were so kind to be excited with/for me! I'm on CD1 today, and overjoyed to be able to TTC this month!
Thanks ladies, and let's pray that this is the month for all of us!

Tell you what if that was me I would be excited as he!! to be pregnant. I hope you are then you won't have to travel the journey I have for 3 1/2 years. If it's God's will sit back and take it as a blessing. Good luck.
I POAS once... because there was one stick left in the box - after I got my positive and could stop. It was positive... days AFTER I should have Oed. I bought another box and tested it again. Still positive. So I went looking for answers.
Here is what I found...
It is possible for your body to "gear up" to ovulate, leading to an LH surge-- and then, for some reason (such as stress, illness, travel, or random fluke), your body fails to release an egg. When this happens, your LH surge will dissipate and your cevical mucus (a signal of fertility) will dry up. Once the stress is resolved, your body will try again. This can happen more than once per cycle. Therefore, there is no way to be sure you ovulated, even if you had a positive OPK. OPK's are most accurate when used in conjunction with fertility charting (NFP or FAM.) That way, a positive OPK can be cross-checked with an increase in basal body temperature and/or cervical mucus dry-up.
Best of luck to you! I hope the swimmers got through and you are done with the hardest part of this waiting game... TTC!

Andrea, my experience was that my cycles were a little different for a few months. Some months, I had every pregnancy s/s, but AF still came. Other months she surprised me w/ no notification. I had positive OPKs for 2 1/2 years, but still no BFP. My cycles would be 25-28 days, with everything seeming perfect.
As for the pull out method of birth control, it is not totally reliable. There is a split second between no sperm/sperm present.
FSH, like other hormones, rise and fall during different days of your cycle. That's why the doctors have them test certain hormones on certain cycle days.
The spotting on CD12 could be anything from implantation to hormones being out of whack.
Unfortunately it's a wait and see game. Good luck.

Well, I probably will tomorrow. Since I can't be sure when I ovulated, (other than thinking that the OPK was correct to the +/- 3 days) and now reading that sometimes a surge can go go go and then nothing and then finally pop that egg...who knows how many DPO I am!
I'll get a Dollar store test tomorrow and see. Though, if for some reason O was later than I think, and it happened when I thought we were in the "safety zone" it may still be too early! Sheesh!
I will keep you updated, and I realize that this is probably most likely delayed menstruation...though I don't see how if I DID O when the OPK said!

Andrea....why don't you just test? If you are 14 DPO, you would definitely get a positive if you were. If its negative, wait for AF or test again in a few days if it doesn't. That's the only way you can know. Good luck!

Andrea, 1)I'm not sure what the odds are, but I do know it has happened 2)Women only have one surge, but sometimes that surge is much longer than expected. When I used the OPK, my temps didn't go up for another 3-4 days which means of course I did O until then. 3)Have no clue about the cd12 spotting...only thing I can say is that I am praying this could be your BFP (even though the doc suggested not).No matter how much we try we cannot stray from God's plan!!! Keep us posted!! Louise

It sounds like congratulations may be in order Andrea. Whilst Dr. Berger does recommend waiting one cycle before TTC many patients have become pregnant within this first month. I recall one who reported that she had a BFP and had not BD'ed since the night before her TR.
It's crazy because there is much debate as to whether pre-ejaculate contains sperm.. The pre-ejaculate comes from the Cowper's glands, and semen is made mostly in the Seminal vesicles...some experts say the failure rate among couples who use it well is about 10% per year..
It wasn't something long term, but the only thing we were comfortable with for one month's waiting. Oh, and I don't want to argue that it can fail, LOL! I'm totally with you...if I were opposed to pregnancy, I sure wouldn't use it. Even though we tried to avoid it on doc's advice, I'd sure be over the moon if it failed, LOL!

As to the first inquiry, the withdrawal method is a moderate to poor BC method, even if it is done successfully. Remember, there is preejaculate that often contains some sperm....and it only takes one to find its way through those newly unblocked tubes...
I have an FSH of 3.4 from June. I forgot to call and ask until today! I was on CD3. I understand that is a decent number? I have a question about FSH...have any of you had them drawn at a different part of your cycle? I'm just wondering how it differs say, during other times in the cycle.
I am waiting on AF. I have a question about ovulation. Here it is and it's lengthy because that's how I am, LOL!...So I know when I normally ovulate, and it's between CD 10-14. I have right about a 14-16 day LP. My period generally arrives at CD 26-29, with 28-29 being usual.
I was on CD 2 for TR on 7/30. This month, I used an OPK to confirm my ovulation, and today I'm somewhere about 14DPO, depending when I actually O after my surge..as we know it isn't exact.
So, we were told to wait 1 cycle to TTC. We bd 3 times prior to O, and used good old fashioned "pulling out". Now, I realize many people say this is unreliable, but based on a man who has self control, and not having ejaculated without urinating, it is fairly effective. Then, last Monday, having passed the perceived O window, we bd without protection.
I have been crampy for about a week, and my bb's are sore. I've been nauseated off and on and I never have PMS symptoms more than a day out. I spotted on CD 12, a small bit of brown. Now, I have lots of clear CM, nearly the type before height of fertility.
Here's the deal...we planned on preventing pregnancy this month, on docs orders, so I don't have that excited feeling where everything is chalked up to a pregnancy because we want it! I was actually using the time to just get healed, and just letting the peace of what has been given to me sink in....
So, 1) what are the odds that the pull-out method failed
2) What are the odds that I ovulated much later either via another surge or the same surge, or a major hanging on eggy/spermy
3) What up with the spotting on CD 12 for me?
Sorry this is long. It's weird for me that we tried to keep this from happening, only to feel as if I could be, with the head knowledge that I likely am not! It's not as if I THINK I am, but rather that I'm curious since there are a lot of things I don't normally experience, except the 5 times I've been pg. I know AF can be out of whack, but with a positive OPK at my usual time, and having a great cycle the days after TR, it seems reasonable to think I'd be my usual 26-29 day self...
Like other recent posters, I just want AF to start if she's coming at all, so I can move on to the lovely time with dh we have prayed so long for...
God Bless ladies and for those who chose to read this nonsensical ramblings of probably nothing...thanks!
