Hello everyone! Well after months and months of waiting for my tr date to finally arrive, I am now 1 month post tr WOW the time just flew by. I just wanted to let everyone know who is considering a tr that CHTRC is the best place, I felt like I was their only patient on my day of surgery everyone greeted me with a smile and a kind heart. I cant tell you enough great things about that place. They gave my dh and I the opportunity to bless our family with another life and I owe them everything. I cant imagine even considering another place other than CHTRC.
Dr. Monteith was absolutely a delight to meet! He had such a caring tone and manner about him that you just couldn't help but feel 100 % confident in his ability to care for you. He knew I was nervous and he reassured me that everything would be fine and it was and he even brought out his comical side while we were walking back to his office to talk. He just brought a sense of peace to me that I would be fine and for that I am grateful. The nurses that I came into contact with and all the other staff were great as well they answered all my questions and took fantastic care of me I have never been treated like that before and they were just plain GREAT!!!
I also just wanted to reassure everyone who maybe has a fear of being put to sleep or worring about the outcome of their tr or the pain afterwards.
Well here is my story.. First of all I am a complete worry wart LOL!!! I am terrified of being put to sleep I was more afraid of being put to sleep than any pain that I might feel or not feel for that matter after surgery. I have a "0" tolerance for pain and I mean "0" I will cry if I have a hang nail or if something as minor as that happens to me LOL yeah I know I am a big baby when it comes to pain but anyways. After I was changed into my surgery attire and I was sitting in the chair waiting on the nurse to put the IV in my arm she put a bag of warm fluids on my arm to help so it wasnt that bad on me when she stuck me with the needle---and the thing is they do that for everybody how over the top is that I think it shows what type of character these people have to not just shove a needle in your arm they try and make you as comfortable as can be and that to me is quality healthcare next after being stuck and not even FEELING IT I got to hug my dh bye and I walked to the OR they helped me on the table put the pillow under my leg and then I remember hearing the nurse read my bp and say that is a great reading and I was waking up. It was so fast I went to sleep and then someone was waking me up it had been 2 hours but it felt like 2 minutes I sat there in the recliner for a sec Dr. Monteith came in asked me my pain level I said maybe a 3 but it wasnt that remember I have a "0" tolerance for pain so if the pain had actually been a 3 I would have been doubled over but I was just pretty sore and groggy but no pain. Next my dh helped me to the bathroom and helped me put on my clothes and we left got on the shuttle went to the hotel slept for awhile woke up and went to Walmart. I had no pain just soreness. I slept fine---I kept those pain meds in me like clockwork and it did the trick for me. We left CH on a tuesday morning after the nurse came to visit and we headed back home which was about a 3 hour drive once we got home we rested for about 3 hours and then we loaded up our boys they are 2 & 4 and we went and got my neice who is 3 and we headed to the beach which is about a 5 hour drive from where we live, we stopped once for me to get out and walk around but again no pain just sore from like working out to hard over doing crunches is really what it felt like and just little twinges every now and then. Once we made it to the beach I continued to keep my meds in me and I did great we stayed there until Friday and then we headed back home by the time we got home I was off the meds completely and by week 2 all soreness was gone all the burning sensations that I had felt was gone and I was back to normal. You can barely even see the scar! I just had my first af since my tr and it was over yesterday and it was alot better than the ones before, I still had cramping and the occasional backache but this go round it was better I would say 50% better and I hope each month to come will bring more relief. You know my desired outcome from this tr was to add an addition to our family but God forbid that never happens the money and the time and the effort that was invested for me will have been worth it! I know I just typed a book but I just wanted to let everyone know how things are working out for me post tr and to let everyone know who is considering a tr that they have def come to the right place.
