I too did much research before my TR. All the "other" doctors I found didn't have much for credentials and at the time there was NOONE like Dr B. The surgery was going to be a two night hospital stay, six weeks recovery (before even trying to conceive) and not much of a success rate reported. I'm sure there are more Dr's out there now that do the surgery, but I have not heard of any other doctor that does nothing else. I have also not heard of any other doctor that responds to their previous patients. The Dr and staff are all so wonderful even after. I had my TR 3 years ago and I email Dr B with questions and he is very quick to respond and give advise. Most drs would probably tell you to see your family physician now that they are done with you. Pray about and make the right decision for you...you don't need to get a vehicle or anything with Dr B because the hotel will bring you to your appts and your follow up is at your hotel room. and the hotel gives you a discount if you are Dr B's patient.

babyprayersliftedup this is a huge decision as you already know I'm sure. First and foremost I would pray that the Lord would guide you in the correct way to go. I found this site 1 year ago this month and I prayed and prayed about it, financially it was not the right time to schedule then lo and behold Dr. M came along and so I prayed about that and then in Feb 08 we were financially prepared to make the step so we did and now I'm just at a waiting point until my surgery. I feel personally that Dr. B and Dr. M are the most logical way to go and I know Dr. M was for me.I would not go anywhere else and although I have not had my TR yet I would not recommend anyone else. Ultimately the choice is yours and if you pray about it and seek the Lord diligently in your endeavor you will in the end make the right choice for yourself. Dear BabyPrayers Lifted Up, Welcome to the board. What great questions you have. I know that others will post their stories and experiences.
Each year we publish the results of our follow-up study, reflecting surgical and pregnancy outcomes. This is the most comprehensive study done to date of tubal reversal surgery and its resulting outcomes, showing that for the majority of women who have undergone a tubal ligation procedure and decide later they would like to have more children, tubal reversal surgery is a better option than in vitro fertilization (IVF). You can check out the pregnancy statistics page for more information.
The stent technique is the better approach in our opinion to avoid any doubt. The stent does not damage the tubes, and it ensures that they are open so a dye test is not necessary. You can see how this looks on our website at There is an illustration showing the placement of the stent.
Dr. Berger sews the muscular and outer serosal layers together but not the inner endothelial layer as this may increase the risk of scar formation within the tubal lumen.
I hope that this information is helpful and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can assist you with anything. Rhonda

I had my tr in january 08 and i reasearched about six months and waiting about a year. the information that you get here and the support, the being able to talk to other patients and hear the true results, both good and bad, not just the ones they put up of the good, made the difference for me. his staff is wonderful and respond very quickly. whomever you chose, do pray about it first.

Ask the other doctor how long he has been performing the surgery and his success rates of pregnancy - not an over success rate of tubal reversals that include all surgeons results, but his personal success rates. Also, you can ask about referrals or opinions from his patients - at least you know you can talk to other patients here. You can never ask enough questions. Good luck.

I found several Dr. in my 2 years of research for my TR. Some more expensive and some about 2,000.00 less that Dr. B and a lot closer to my home in Colorado. However when looking at the success rate from Dr. B, among other things this was the best choice for me. This is all he does, TR's 4 times a day 5 days a week. He doesn't have anything else that could interfere with his very important job here like running off to take care of a woman in labor like most OB's. Also there is a reason he only sews 2 layers of the tubes. You should order the video or dvd and watch as he does a TR, it really explains a lot.
Hope this helps, but in the end the decision has to be yours. :-)

My husband and I have recently decided we want for me to get a TR. I am not sure hwo to go about choosing a Dr. I like what I have seen so far from Chapel Hill but I have also found another center closer to my home (about 6 hours instead of the 11.5 hours away that CH is) Both places charge the same fee. The fee from the other place covers lab work and hotel for 2 nights. they sew 3 layers of tube instead of just 2 that chapel hill does and they do a dye test at the end of surgery to amke sure the tubes are open and sutured well. But CH seems to be much more popular and well known. But I really can't tell which center if either i would have a better success rate at...that's the most important thing to me. Does anyone have any advice on how to know which Dr. to choose?
