I had my TR on 12-26-07, my dh and I drove from north west Iowa, it took us 24-26 hours. Coming home was not fun. I got sick and was very sore when I would try to move around. We drove straight through, I think if you stop at a hotel and break the trip up it would have been better. Good Luck!!!!

My husband or mother is going with me when I go and we will be driving from Mississippi. My hubby is afraid of flying, so it is definantly out if he's along for the journey! GL~Melody

we drove from WV to CH. it was about a 5 hour drive. It was nice to have my DH all to myself. (we had 6 kids) The drive home was not so nice but the pain meds did help. I got out and walked around a few times on the way home...Make sure you bring a big pillow to lay across your tummy for the ride home

Hi, I just had my surgery on the 12th of June and we drove from VA it only took about 2 1/2 hours to get there. The ride home was ok because it didn\'t take long but every touch of the break and bump in the road felt horrible.

Hi! I had my TR last year, and my sister and I drove from Northern Wisconsin. We overnighted one night along the way, each direction - and just enjoyed the ride, and conversation. It's a good idea to stop and walk around when you can, after your TR.

I have driven from UT to move to NC and that was the longest drive ever. I cant even think of that drive right after surgery. I could understand a drive that took maybe no more than 24 hours but our drive from UT to NC took 36 or so hours. I would definitly fly so that if you are feeling crummy after you are only dealing with a few hours till you are home in your home rather than the car for a few days. Good luck to what ever you decide.

Just wondering if anyone who lives far from NC. has choosen to drive instead of flying. I live in Phoenix az. and for me the scariest part of the whole surgery is getting on the plane but driving is going to take forever.
