Hi! I'm new to this board..I am from Louisiana and i'm planning to have my TR done. Don't know where yet, but..I as well Ripped2ways will be paying cash for everything. I have 2 kids from previous marriage son 12 daughter 9 and my new hubby of 1 year in a half has been wanting a child badly. so, any ideas to where closer to Louisiana?
Believe it. I have a best friend who was told she would never have a child. She didn't produce eggs (not even fragments of eggs) even when she was getting fertility treatments. She had accepted this and moved on in life. After she left her second husband and while she was dating her third husband to be, she became pregnant! When she asked the doctor what could of happened he said that it was one of two things. Either it was the 50+ pounds she had lost or she had just matured late. She was around 30 when this happened... we doubt it was the maturity issue. Shed those pounds so you can put them back on with baby weight!

I am new to this site, but I thought I would share something I read a few months ago. In one of the more popular diet books out there, I read that taking off pounds can actually help you to become pregnant easier. I am not sure if this is true, But what a great Motivator! The reasoning behind it, which I will have to look up again, made sense to me at the time.

Please note our new web page on BMI requirements. Dr. Berger provided the link below. Patients must have a BMI of 34.9 or LESS prior to surgery. This is a slight change from the previous policy requiring 35 or less. In addition, the requirement to be able to undergo screening laparoscopy is now 29.9 or LESS.

My mom lost over 100 pounds, and I'd like to share some of her tips with you ladies who are still fighting the good fight!
1) Get small plates. It makes it look like you are eating more.
2) Put your fork down in between EVERY bite. Takes you longer to eat so you feel full quicker.
3) Walk to anywhere that is under a mile away. Mom walked to and from work everyday for 2 years! (4 miles each way).
4)Drink only ice water.
5)Throw away any junk food in your house. If its not there, you can't eat it.
6) Mom swears that taking 10 minutes everyday to sit quietly and focus on herself and what she really wanted out of life helped. She said it kept her truly focused on her goal.
I'm going through the same thing, need to lose just a couple more pounds before I reschedule, as I was scheduled for December and had to come off the schedule, because BMI was too high.
I was devistated then, but now am so glad I was made to do something about it that is only going to help in the long run.
That is absolutely correct - it may not make intuitive sense, but the more water you drink (within reason now, don't drown yourself) the more you will flush out of your system. Staying dry leaves your system "saltier" and this holds onto water. Walking also helps things move through your system. Both of these are helpful to do after surgery too, to reduce bloating.

The more water that you drink, the more you will get rid of! I know that it sounds wrong, but it is true. Drinking alot of water actually prevents retaining too much water; go ahead and give it a try. You will be amazed. My chirporactor says that the rule is to take your weight and divide it in half; that is the minimum number of ounces you need a day. I do this and I feel so much better!

If I drink lots of water won't I retain it? Especially from the airplane trip? I walked 2 miles tonight, I am going to walk 2 miles in the morning and then in the evening as well before we get on the plane. Thanks for all your help. Also, I just went to my sisters and she has a regular scale (mine is a digital and always varies) and I am at 34.3
I suggest you drink lots and lots of water, and walk around as much as possible. Eat veggies, which are very low in calories, and are also mostly water. See you soon,

Hi there, I have been on the Atkins diet for the last 2 months and I have been fluctuating between 34.7 and 35.5 depending on water retention.... I get on the plane tomorrow night and arrive in the morning in Chapel Hill. Any suggestions for the plane ride so I do not swell? I can not believe it is time!

Hello Ripped2way, Iam 36 will be 37 on Monday and also am about 20 lbs overweight. I have been slowing losing weight over the last 6 months as well as saving for my tr. God has sent a miracle to me as my elderly grandparents have moved in with me and will be selling their house! My grandparents live a very modest life and can't even imagine what to do with the money they will receive. They advised me that since this is something that I want so badly I can have the money for the tr!! The closing date of the home is 5/15/04. I am soooo excited I don't know what to do. I plan to try to schedule my tr in June or July. Think of your desire to have another baby as the biggest motivation you have!! That is what will motivate me to lose the last 20 lbs before I schedule.
